MPG issues at Con-Way

Truck can fail to COMPLETE regens and partially clear that is what the fault shows not actually a "failed" regen just sisnt make it completly through the cycle. Same issue w/ mine when first assigned I don't remember exact # of "failed to complete" faults but it was north of 20. If you are often in city traffic you will fail to complete full regents A LOT... You here it stop mid cycle when you go from highway speed to traffic stopped sounds like 3 thuds and then Kind of like the turbo blowing off Pressure and its spooling speed dropping quickly. I manually regen reguardless of motor saying its required once every 30-45 days. KW dealer said it would prevent it from tripping automatic shutdown/powerdown motoor saver mode since I regularly interupt the truck auto-regen due to traffic conditions so it doesn't fully clean when that happens.

 

If the EPA and the tree hugging jerk offs who run it weren't such a bunch of tyrannical commie b@$terds....diesel engines would not even have regen systems and the problems described above would not exist. It would be just like the old days, before the global warming scam brainwashed the minds of stupid people to the point of being submissive to the EPA's every command.

 

Well, it sound like if Romney wins the presidency he may be greatly reducing the hand of the EPA. Just a thought.....

You can just hit and hold the regen button for about 5 seconds and it will start

 

see above post, in KW you just hold the button down and it will start reguardless of light being on or not.

 

Add a gallon per hour for a 10 hour break overnight so 471/75 = 6.28. Getting close to borderline. Now, everything like progressive shift, skipping gears, turning off hte engine while you are in the shower, turning off the engine from the time you wake up til the time you roll (assuming you are not 41 on the board)...all those things add up.

I followed one of our drivers on 59 heading into Laredo today. We were side by side at a red light with 100 miles to go. He forced a hard push off the line to get in front of me and a tanker. I just took my normal pace. He burned a lot pulling away, he was probably 1 mile per hour faster at cruising speed, yet he never left my sight. I caught him at a red light at the 20 loop in Laredo.

If he burned 3 gallons more than me in that period, that is 3 gallons I have to play with to keep the bean counters off my back. If I get an extra 90 gallons to play with over a month, that's pretty good!

By the way, don't top off your tanks on the last day of the month. If you have to buy fuel, buy enough to get through the day. It messes up your mpg for the month if buy the fuel but don't use it in the same month. Sure you get it back the next month, but burn down the tanks every month to give yourself that edge.
