Read a driver post a question about fuel coolers and MPG, so I had some installed. 1 before the pump that feeds the feeder tank, one just before each injector and 4 along the return line. Noticed an increase in my MPG. I''m getting 8.6-9.2. They really help running out west in the heat, the Maxxforce and newer 9400i's are known to put the diesel under A LOT of pressure and high heat, this is due the the inner engine reaching high temps. So, the coolers did help my MPG and I got slightly more pull out of the engine. Took the dealer a day and a half to put them on, an extra 4 hours to put the engine back together.

Another thing to think of is maybe a fuel temp sensor reading from the tanks, then you can do some comparison of fuel temp to mpg. This was talked about at length before with the fuel temp wire, and IIRC someone stated that fuel at 90 degrees in tanks led to about a 40 hp gain at the wheels, all tests done on the dyno. This, in theory, should lead to higher mpg, the science makes sense.

What kind of fuel cooler are you using?

Not sure, International just threw whatever they had on. Nothing fancy because it didn't cost to much.

Ah, trying to get something on it but nothing yet. What I can think of is a wireless temp thingy and drop that in the tank, but then you run the risk of it getting pulled in by the intake pumps.

Cooler fuel will also extend the life of your pump and injectors too! The one you have in the return line needs to be the best one, this is where the most heat will be.

Perhaps, not so sure about the third generation truck engins.
Yup, why I put 4 along it. My pumps need to last as long as possible, pricey if one goes bad. be my luck one heats up and catches fire!

    Heavyd Thanks this.

I paid about $200, I can understand that because it was only 1 guy working on it.
