Years ago I took a Werner load that needed Hazmat. I wasn't Hazmat at the time and Werner never put it on the BOL. The customer was mad and I couldn't do anything because Werner never listed it as Hazmat. If checking wagons, I would have been in trouble at the weight station for hauling. I had a full wagon that would no way pass DOT.

I don't work for Werner anymore. If I completed 1 year of OTR with Werner, I would have been totally homeless and dependent on Werner for food and water. I would have been living on a truck on $ 6 dollars a day while Werner gets paid like $45,000 for my contracted load deliveries. A good truckers union should make sure the truckers get paid a percent on all their load deliveries and not by the mile. I know a local farmer who runs all types of freight, keeps his records open and pays his drivers a percent of the load. He runs pipe, construction materials and other raw materials. He keeps his records open for the truck drivers to know how much $ he makes and how much he pays his drivers by percent of load, not by the mile. His drivers get paid good and they stay with him. Werner's game is telling their new drivers in orientation they will be paid .26 a mile and then pays .20 a mile. No one can possibly live in the USA on what Werner pays and I left Werner years ago.

It's well known Werner is trying to get out of their own business debt; by illegally coercing their truck drivers into debt. Werner recruits homeless people because our USA population is economically desperate. If a truck driver is homeless and desperate, the driver is dependent on Werner and Werner can pay .20 cents a mile without to much opposition and/or conflict from that driver. If a good union is formed it would benefit the truck drivers; but, I think for everyone's best interests Werner should just be shut down. I opened this forum because the information is obvious. (I didn't have to sneak around in anyone's office with a flash light.) I've listened to some Werner administrators laugh and brag about it. They call it "family money" when they discuss some of the issues I've written in this forum as "organized crime." Well, maybe I was a joke from the very beginning when I was recruited by a CDL-A school for Werner. Okay, maybe somebody got a good laugh from the fact I was an obvious loser that needed a job. Really? I am not the only one that believed Werner was legitimate. Just consider other truck driving companies, don't go with Werner.

The only way I managed to survive working for Werner for a few months was by listening to Louis Armstrong while I was driving. It was the only thing that gave me any hope. Other drivers from other trucking companies really felt sorry for me. Other drivers were so respectful to me and never told me I was stupid for working for Werner. The other drivers were sympathetic that I worked for Werner and kindly encouraged me to find employment with a better trucking company. I realized how bad it was because my dispatchers were very outspoken by insisting that I drive when my truck needed confirmed repairs or when I would have been in log violations of my 14, 11 and 10 hour rules. (Of course, I refused to drive in these circumstances which further complicated issues when Werner illegally withheld my pay for completed load deliveries. I appropriately documented any delayed ETA's in Qualcomm.)

I agree and it's kinda like when I used to be a mechanic: Ya start at the bottom and ya work your way up. Saw alotta people expecting a brand new tool chest and expected to get handed their ASE within a few months. Lol, hey some how when ya change oil, and/or tires and possibly sell a air filter alot of people seem to think their automatically the ones all race teams should call for advice when facing a mechanical issue. If I decide to drive again, I'll gladly work my way up... Although, a new rig @ $0.80mpg does sound like a good idea for all newbies & And of course 100% Drop&Hook, lol. Ya'll take care and God bless all Truckers.

Warner is on E-log, Warner can not force a driver to break DOT reg. the driver must be willing, I have had dispatchers try this with me in the past, But, they cant reach into my truck and make this happen, Does Warner have some sort of magical power that allows them to start the truck and make it go down the road?, I thought only the driver in the truck could do this?, If the driver Does this, He's got no one to blame but himself!, there are other companies to go to. there is never a logical reason to put yourself in a bad situtation with your DAC report or your Driving record, witch will affect your CDL, Un-safe driver need to find other jobs other than driving a CMV, How hard is it to tell your DM, that you are not going to break the law, Stand up for yourself!, Tell them, NO!, Once you get in the habit of Breaking DOT reg. they will more than likely keep asking you to do it more and more

Ok...so a new driver is supposed to accept .20 cents per mile until they gain some type of seniority and "do their time" with Werner. Is that what you're saying? After a year, does the new driver get .25 cents per mile from Werner? I don't agree, because Werner's customers pay for completed load deliveries regardless of whether or not a new trucker or a trucker with 20 years of experience is driving the freight. The customer doesn't care how much seniority or experience a driver has (as long as the driver is competent, i.e. no accidents, no DOT violations, etc. etc.); the customer just wants their freight. Werner receives income from a customer when a load is delivered and the truckers should receive a percentage of Werner's load income with each delivery that is completed (and it shouldn't matter if the trucker has been on the road for one year or ten years). Werner pays their drivers so minimally that their quarterly labor costs are the lowest than in any comparative industry. Werner gets federal tax breaks because diesel costs are so high. Werner gets paid federal stipends for hiring new drivers with clean MVR's. Organized crime occurs when a business manages to evade obligatory legal requirements, payments and labor rights at the expense of their employees (in this case, it is at the expense of their drivers). Yes, I think a truck driver's union would prevent a lot of problems that driver's contend with from bad trucking companies; but, I think Werner should just be shut down.
