That is because ceramics can be harder than steel and they definately handle the heat better too.

Do you know who the manufactures of custom ceramic bearings are?
I have a small share in a company in another field where we are developing a product.
The heat tolerance of the bearings is critical.

There is several from BOCA to others and the full ceramic bearings will cost a fortune to be custom made and are real expensive just for standard off the shelf ones.

I had a hybrid ceramic (steel races with ceramic balls) bearing in my hands at the truck show that was bought there by a mechanical engineer fellow who works at the nuclear facilities at Oak Ridge, TN that was about the size of a truck wheel bearing and was used in something to do with a sealed condition that could not be lubricated constantly due to contamination. That bearing cost $1,800 before it was even MicroBlued and he told us it lasted at least 5 times longer MicroBlued and many times longer than all steel bearings. My quess a full ceramic version of that same bearing with ceramic races would cost around $5,000 to $10,000.

    They are not cheap.

My trucks ready in Albuquerque. Packing my bag and flying out to get it in a few and let tit roll to Cali. Got my tractor wheel bearing done and my rears. When I get home I'll do my trailer bearings. Then eventually get my trans and motor done in the winter months. Looking forward to it.

The standard Timkin bearings (3 off) in use in these 2ft crushers cost $ 65 0000-00 so I assume a ceramic equivalent if possible will cost a lot more.
It may however eliminate the need for an external lube system that is there for cooling of bearings mainly.
This alone is a $60 000-00 saving so ceramic if possible may be the answer.
Anyway I will pass this on to the engineer.
I am just a truck driver what do I know?

The big question I am always asked about MicroBlue is.....

    HOW LONG DOES MICROBLUE LAST?

Let's answer that question with my truck's history.....

My truck was the first truck that MicroBlue was installed on starting with the wheel bearings on 6/29/11, both rear ends were done on 7/30/11, rod/main motor bearings were done on 12/7/11 and finally the transmission was done on 12/28/11.

As of today 8/12/12 the wheel bearings have 144,434 miles on them, the rear ends have 131,083 miles on them, the rod/main motor bearings have 86,625 miles on them and the transmission has 77,560 miles on it.

My 2012 1st Quarter IFTA was 9.16 mpg, the 2012 2nd Quarter IFTA was 9.05 mpg and my current 30 day average according to mygauges.com is 9.56 mpg that is way better than my truck has every come close to performing fuel mileage wise and that is with a 3406E Cat motor.

I have paid for all my MicroBlue treatments a long time ago and I am enjoying a greater bottom line profit margin than ever running fewer miles.

A rough idea of what kind of mpg gain each item will give is the wheel bearings on a 3 axle tractor gained 4/10ths mpg, both rear ends gained 8/10ths mpg and the transmission (13 spd) gained 1/2 mpg for a total gain of around 1.7 mpg doing these 3 items on any class 8 tractor.

    Thank You MicroBlue!

    Thanks.
I am one of those that have been wondering.
In track racing machines if a component can last 1000 miles it is a winner.
I was also wondering if when its useful life is reached it simply loses the advantage it or goes down in flames taking some casualties with it.
I understand you are not the supplier and therefore are doing this reporting as a courtesy.
    I personally appreciate it.

Now to find out if they can supply bearings for Euro trucks as well.
Industrial bearings some time in the future.

Send the parts to them and they can treat them.

Give Microblue a call at 704-489-2216 to answer your question about euro-bearings.

what is the total cost for complete job

in the 80's no one cared about mpg and the ones that did were tarred and feathered
cabovers were not very fuel efficent but see where we are today
