At a rest area on I70 between Wheeling, WV and Washington, PA. Head on into Carlisle, PA in the morning.

Another rest area on 80 in Pennsylvania. A little heads up. Stay away from the Pilot just west of Mountain Top. They only have 2 pump lanes open. Creating a horrific gridlock. Took me about 20 minutes to get on the scales and a half hour to get off it. Finally got parked a ways away and walked back to get the scale ticket. That situation is ripe for some serious violence to break out. Better off scaling at the Loves a bit further west.

Sounds like a good run...if you dont have to drive it 'to' LV on a Fri afternoon/evening, or 'from' LV on a Sun afternoon/evening when all the L.A.-ites are heading to/from there.

What kind of loads do you take back from LV? Wmart pallets or dead head?

You ever get board running the same route again and again? I ran the I-5 on a regional run from LA, CA to Seatle, WA it was a good run but I got tired of the same T-stops, same food, same tree lined roads. I'd like to get a route running from San Diego, CA to Miami, FL on a regular basis, anyone know a trucking company with a dedicated route like that?

I agree, the I-5 would get old even with the good miles. I've met some drivers who do it and love it, tho.

I ran a couple of runs from L.A. to Miami, but both were carrying 'shelving' to set up new Walmarts in that area. Not dedicated. (Getting back to Phx (home) typically took 7-10 days of hop-scotching thru the south with multiple loads)

    SkyDriver Thanks this.

I got in to trucking late after selling my small business and investing the money from it. I would have driven longer except with my shoulder limitation as well as seeing the economy starting to tank the summer of 2008, decided to cutback lifestyle ('tightening the belt') and 'retire' early, treading water while waiting for SS and pensions to kick in.
