There is no line 5 on the e log I use either. It graphs it on line 1 but puts an uneditable off duty driving segment for the time the machine detects the truck moving.

    DrtyDiesel Thanks this.

I've got a line 5, but its use is limited and specific, that is, bobtail only, and exclusively for use from a given point to another point (groceries, restaurant, etc.), and return. The key is that it must be a round-trip. But again...that is just with Crete. I didn't even have a line 5 on my e-logs at Schneider.

I only figured line 5 cuz of it creating 5 different duty statuses lol

Round trip seems like a strange requirement. I guess your round trip could have 34 hours between legs. Ours is bobtail only limited to 30 minutes per trip and 1 hour per day.

Pretty much. If you've got a clean record and present yourself professionally, you can eventually work your way around to any and every freight gig in town looking for the right fit. They don't care that much. They figure hey, If we can get this experienced freight guy to go out and bust his ### doing P&D for us for 6 months or a year and pay him a whopping $18-20/hr, it's a win in our book.

We don't use the word retarded anymore. The proper terminology is now intellectual disability. Just saying so you don't get bushwhacked.

It's already been suggested but I'd probably try to find another freight job with one of the other LTL's in town. I did a short stint with a small regional LTL doing P&D/dock and came to dislike the hours/wages/equipment quality/etc. Even though I considered it an upgrade getting paid hourly and being home every night, big-picture wise it left plenty to be desired, so I lined up a gig with another company who'd posted an ad on Craigslist offering what I considered a better deal in many ways. So far it's going well.

You might even try P&D if you're aiming to keep a more "normal" work week. That's usually M-F day shift with a single trailer, occasionally needing to hook a back box spotted at a shipper. Terminal managers love hiring city drivers who can pull a set, so your experience with CT should be able to get you in the door almost anywhere, so it's just a matter of finding the company you think has the most to offer you.

AT is just yankin' Ya'lls chain. Actually, he loves it at CT and plans on methodically working his way up the seniority list (which shouldn't take long) til he gets the pick of the litter come bid time. Ain't that right Grasshopper?:yes2557:
