Dang. My 240" wheelbase prostar full of fuel (200 gallons) and all my equipment is 20,233 lol. That would definitely be worth the extra weight to have your truck!

There is a LS driver that I run with sometimes, he has a 2011 Volvo 780 midroof truck and just the truck w/o equipment is 21,500#, with his equipment he's at 23,500 and with his combo flatbed he is at 35,000#.... I made up for the weight of my truck with a all alumnium trailer. my total weight is 29,500#

I can vouch for the hood choice.. best running and Dependable truck's I've drove over my 20+ years had hoods however, being a first time owner with one is killing my profits. My 2003 KW 900 with 550 cat gets about 5.5 this coupled with a crappy broker i get a lot of negative settlements..dont get me wrong i love my kw but you definatley need to get on with a broker that can get customers not just cheap freight... and I'm still trying to find one of those

Terrible was the 5-5.5 i was getting with the truck stock. I manage 7mpg now, but that was after a PDI manifold and turbo, switching the program to a 6NZ and doing a tune. So about $8,000 to get to the 7mpg mark. And if the load is over 5' tall, it goes down, but that is only because my truck is a flat-top. I know a guy who has a 2002 379 with a 300" wb and gets 7.2mpg for the last 500k miles pulling a covered wagon with 42-47k coils both ways of his trip. He bought a new Cascadia and is still doing the exact same run and now gets 6.1mpg with a DD15 motor. His brother bought a Coronado with a DD13 and gets worse LOL

I'm not arguing that an aero CAN do better, but it's not the golden rule. It has less to do about the truck, and more to do with the driver. In his case, it wasn't that way either as his old "hood" did better in his operation. I just can't stand when somebody comes out stating a "aero is always better MPG, ALWAYS!!" because that is total crap

Ok, but it was just 18 hours ago in another thread you said "trust me, my Star gets terrible mpg. But a Star with a 12.7 detroit may not be so bad. If you could get it into the mid 7's then it could be worth it." You didn't just put all this stuff on from pdi and a tune in the last 18 hours. Not trying to be a prick here, but you are leading others to believe things in one thread and saying the opposite in another.
