Hey All,
Congratulations to the CDT West Babylon Graduating Class of 6/21/2012!
I thought it would be cool if we could all use this page to stay in touch and see where everyone winds up. I know that we all got along really well and it was a long class and Im sure were all happy that its over, but try to stop by here every once in awhile and let each other know how your doing out there. Tell us about the companies you work for, good or bad, let us know whats new in your life, etc.
Who knows, maybe we could help each other out from time to time out in the world, or through this thread.
Anyway, I enjoyed my time at CDT. It would have been nice if they would have had a loading dock for us to practice on!
EEEESH!
Hope to hear from you guys! - John
Oh and if anyone who wasn't in our graduating class has any questions about the school feel free to ask.

I'm glad i found this post and even Happier CDT is still in buisness. I graduated from their school back in 1976 when they were located at Motor Ave. in Farmingdale. Lol, back then they didnt have a dock to practice on either. We took the trucks to Maspeth queens to practice dock backing and parallel parking. Looks like they have decent equipment. Should have seen the crap i learned to drive with.

Have you come across many CDT grads in your years on the road?Marksteven Thanks this. -
No, i lived in Brooklyn, (Sheepshead Bay) when i went to CDT. In 1977, i moved to Arlington TX. and got a job with FFE and drove for them for 4 years. When i moved back to N.Y. (Hauppague) i lost touch with everyone. I have been living in Appleton Wi. since 1992 and have only been back to N.Y. once. Yea the equipment back then was terrible. However, all of the Trailers Dogtracked so badly that after you graduated, You DEFINITLEY mastered Backing! I can remember our classrooms were in Mobile trailers.
All in all, i'm glad they are still in buisness. Despite the old equipment, i can now say they trained me well. -
Congrats to all who made it thru this school and graduated (not just the 6/21 graduates). Maybe some of you can take the time to post your comments about the experience, strengths (and weaknesses) with the program, and who you are driving for now.
Always helpful information for us wannabe's -

The school really got in depth about all things trucking, they had 4 weeks of classroom, then 4 weeks of driving. We did all kinds of maneuvers with cones and barrels and had plenty of road time to hone our skills. The school prepared us well for all written tests and for the road test, they always had instructors available, trucks at the ready, and each instructor offered his own unique view of the industry.
The only negative that I can speak of, from my point of view, is they didn't have a dock to practice on. I asked why we couldn't just use a dock on one of the many closed down warehouses in the area, and they said their insurance wouldn't cover it if anything went bad on someone else's property. Understandable, but still a bit of a let down since 99% of trucking pickups and deliveries are done by using a dock. But other than that, I see no real negatives with CDT.
I am currently getting all of my endorsements together, re-writing my resume, and applying online to a few companies like Watkins-Shepard, Schneider, etc. Wish me luck! -
Hello all I have a real quick question . Do you have any info on financing at this school . Im not sure I could afford to pay the upfront fees . I would like to take the career course .
