So what do you prefer for filters (oil, water, fuel, air) and why?

    I run a 07 DD S60 14L.

CAT..... it costs a few more bucks but I feel it's worth it. (oil, fuel) Donaldson on the air filters.

Baldwin on lube filters, oil analysis has proven them to be a better value

Donaldson & CAT. Donaldson has the same micron rating as CAT, though the yellow filters have a much heavier build when you look at them side by side.

Guys around central IL were a 50/50 split on Baldwin. By that I mean love/hate. They had some issues years ago with them & people do not forget those sorts of things. Fleetguard moved their production to Mexico from IA. They also had some issues on a certain filter for Cummins motors, just do not remember the specifics.

These guys http://www.afsifilters.com/ make the CAT filters in Champaign IL & Donaldson is made in the US as well.

I, myself, am leaning towards Donaldson filters unless someone can convince me otherwise.

Donaldson are great filters and they don't break the bank like CAT filters do. I figure Donaldsons have to be pretty good if Amsoil dealers sell them. Most people I know use Baldwins, they're good filters too and a little cheaper than Donaldsons. I actually use a Baldwin 5 micron drop in filter in the stock filter housing on my ISB powered Ram. Eiher one is a good filter imo. Heard Napa golds are good filters too. You might check Bobistheoilguy.com website and see if they rated/tested different filters with samples - haven't been to that site in years but it is the go-to place for all things motor oil related.

The price of the cat filters sucks, but my accert doesn't seem to run as good with the other brands.

I always ran CAT filters until I had a CAT fuel filter that had the drain plug crack and fall out while at a shipper. Took me 2 hours to get the prime back, not to mention the 3 mile walk to a dealership to get new filters.

Ever since then, i just run Baldwin or LF. i will never put a CAT filter on my truck again

    aiwiron Thanks this.
