Dropped in Lenexa and went to the yard, got a shower and some Waffle house. Got a call with next load from Grand View, MO to Harvard, IL pick up anytime and drop anytime. So I picked up yesterday and dropped off at midnight and went to Walmart for my 10.

Had a choice of 3 loads this morning, picked a shorter one, 350 miles instead of the longest one 680 miles because I was sure I could get another one in for the weekend. So I picked a load going from Rockford, IL to Mt Vernon, IL.

And 10 mins later got a preplan for Monday from Bloomfield, MO to Gahanna, OH. Sweet!

So my plan worked out and looks like after a slower week, freight is picking back up.

If anyone is in the Rockford area, I'm starting to BBQ now...got dogs and brats, plenty of them. ;)

Does ACT hire new grads? Im starting school Oct.1 in Springfield OH and live in Columbus,OH. It would be nice to get loads that run through my area. My father in law works for YRC and he said he could get me hired in Indy after graduating. Im just worried cuz I heard they typically lay off drivers during slow season. Im just looking at options. Any advice is appreciated. Seems like ACT treats you well.

ACT doesn't hire new graduates, you have to have sometime behind the wheel. Last time I checked, it was 9 months + school, or 2 years w/o school. (I freely admit, that info is 2 months old.)

Thanks for the info. Guess I'll keep my fingers crossed YRC will start me Mid November. He did say they are needing alot of drivers though. You guys know much about the teamsters? I wonder how well the women fit in there.

Thanks for the info guys, guess I'll keep ACT on my list of prospects for later. BTW your posts on your loads is interesting and helpful. Gives me a good idea of what to expect. Are you a company driver or L/O?

OMG....if you like wings you'd love Qaker Steak and Lube. Ever been to one? There is only one within 200 miles or so but they have one up in Polaris and they have awesome wings. Always have to drag my hubby out of there. Inside is full of vintage Harleys, fullsize Nascar, its pretty cool. :)
