    Seems the biggest problem with lining up the next job before leaving the current one is how do you get approved for the next one without the current one knowing you're looking. The Feds regs on verifying last several years of work history means the perspective employer is gonna contact the current employer. Thus is the dilema.

    I am looking to be home a little more than 3 or 4 days a month. Current employer will allow it but not without surrendering the tractor. Ideally I am looking to be home the better part of most weekends or be out approx. 11 or 12 days for 3 full days off. Ideally running just in the South. I guess I can propose my desires to my current employer but I seriously doubt they'll go along with it. 5 or 6 days off a month seem nearly impossible to attain in Central Florida without switching to the Labor intensive LTL side that my body would not hold up to.

    Something simple works best imo. I have turned in a resignation letter at most jobs I've quit, even if I was quitting right then. I don't know if it helps, but I hate to burn bridges. Something simple works best imo. I pretty much say this.

    To whom it may concern:

    Effective (date), I will be resigning from my position at (company). Thank you for the opportunities and experience I have been given.

    You could expand further and say why you are quitting, but I doubt your employer really cares. One thing I was told was to never bad mouth the company or your coworkers when you tell them quit. Just say it you appreciate the opportunity but it wasn't a good fit.

    Just keep it short and sweet and be professional. Dont get all personal with them. Nobody wants a 20 page essay on your life and problems with them.

    I ran my proposal by the company today but it got shotdown as expected. So it's no longer a matter of if but when. I reckon I better get busy calling liars.....err... I mean recruiters.
