I hope the title might catch some attention. I've seen some variation of it in a lot of posts. Two things: 1. Isn't the site meant to help one another? 2). More to the point, what increase in someone's income will result by withholding advice and help? 0.00000001 percent? Zero, more likely.

OK Jim, I'm not sure why you think folks are "withholding" information from you. Most of the people on here are more than willing to help each other out. Sometimes it may take a while to get a question answered, because not everyone is constantly on the forum. Usually, you will get some good information. Also, you will get some BS answers and that should not discourage you, as a lot of it is just folks having a bit of fun with you.

Well. I understand your thinking, but ALL of us older hands have been burned by giving out info to someone who uses it against you.Maybe not on purpose, but it happens. Like telling another O/O about your load source, and then he contacts the source, and under-bids you. That sucks, and it happens quite often. General info is fine to share, detailed business facts are not.
Or perhaps a shipper / broker is paying a premium rate for your services, due to your loyalty. If you divulge your pay, everyone will want the same, and the payer will be upset with you.Bingo, you are replaced.
You learn everybody cannot be trusted.CAXPT, TRKRSHONEY, JimsK and 1 other person Thank this. -
Seems that majority of the time people think they have the answer before they ask the question. Or if you give an answer it isn't the one they wanted so your wrong.

I try my best to give good advice to anyone who asks.General info / experience lessons I freely share. Sometimes they listen, and other times they don't. Quite often we are not given the whole story, and our thoughts will not be what the asker wants to hear, or may not really apply to their situation.Example ; Sometimes I read on here questions from newbies that want to to get into the car hauling business. Portable parking lots. They have heard there is premium pay for those drivers. Probabaly so, but it takes a special person to do that work, and the experienced guys know better than to give out too much info,or the field will get too crowded, and the older fellas will get screwed. Everybody ain't made to haul cars, and these older hands know it. So they keep rather quiet.Same thing with O'/O's. We advise graduates not to buy /or lease a truck right off the bat, but quite often they will not listen. 2 edged sword.

Take your time, read the relevant posts and make your decisions / judgements from there..... and ask questions as they occur to you; they'll get answered, trust me.
Honestly, I'd say it would take a month or more of reading........ but don't get chapped or disillusioned simply because the answer you were looking for can't be found in the first post you read. This thing is ate up with information. All you need to do is to take your time and go through it.
Happy trails and best wishes....... and welcome aboard.aiwiron, Big Don and TRKRSHONEY Thank this. -
