it works actually but on earlier R series cruise control was not very precise so it could run over it(for 3-4kmh) and than it try to put more retarder power to back speed to set one .....

.....also when climbing it could be bit late so you could lose 2-3kmh uphill before cruise control reacts

FMCSA is a "RULE" making group not a "LAW" making group. Most states follow thier lead to remove themselves from responsability("because FMCSA says so")That gives them a false sense of authority that has rolled down hill to us. Everyone has "let" a bunch of uneducated people control an industry they know nothing about.

When I first heard of i-shift (eco roll) coasting down hills, I thought that was a bit too much. Recently Detroit announced they added this feature, and the ZF will incorporate it (rolling).
I guess it really does make a difference? I was comparing it to the old days, running the canyon in B.C. and throwing the clutch in and letting her scream down the mountain trying to break 100mph, yaa hoo mexican overdrive.

Who will offer this ZF to hook up to what make of engine?
Sounds promising, but still lacking the free flowing info between the engine and tranny.

as for eco roll , it is only usable on smaller hills of about 2% 3max .....actually i dont like idea to have free transmission especially since at idle engine speed transmission might have not enough lubrication....

but i think on other side it is good because it prevents/teach driver to not use throttle downhill which many do

Mack salesman brought over a 013 Mack heavy spec day cab. Had the 2 pedal, 12 speed auto trans. Wanted me to try it for a day or two. I did think about it for a second, and said no thanks!
