Scania 124 470 trouble....

this should be impossible

 

Ive had no experience with them but it's what I've been told

 

they were very popular in uk&ir on r420 euro4 r470 e3/e4 and r480 e4 which were very popular

 

More so in the uk, I'd say about 80% of scanias here are v8, 420's were popular too but those have been replaced mostly by 480's or nowadays a few 440's the choice for big fleet light haulage

 

this should be turbocompound , you know when you have it...... and also normal working scania should gives you turbo whistle at cruising speed


dt12 is basically dc12 engine with this second turbo , theoretically it could be possible to convert engine to 420, i know for one r470 converted to r420

but this is more complicated than fix turbocompound

......

turbocompound use engine oil for both lubricating and for matching speed of turbine to crankshaft ....it is cleaned in centrifugal oil filter and in turbine filter

hm this means that gears still rotating your turbine and it make some pressure but most probably not properly

now your probably lose your engine power because in driving your crankshaft rotating your turbocompound and you are losing power




and question for you did you check for errors and which codes did you get

btw give me your email i will send you instructions how to remove/fit turbocompound and disassemble/assemble and bearing job on turbocompound

but question for you did you done diagnostics you cant know which is wrong on modern engine by guessing and changing stuff which are maybe ok, and having truck downtime
