that avg of $7,000 a weeks is when we are running. remember that the avg driver is on the road 300 days a year or 40 weeks so a year is more like $280,000 and for us to hit that we would need to avg $22k a month for the rest of the year.... not going happen this year as we spend tomuch hometime because we can.. when we go home we take 2-3 weeks off because we can.

how much goes to the truck...? it's up to you...! truck payment (size) is up to you. new is higher used is lower..ours is $1100 a month... ins we have alot...(never be under) $430 a month. tires $208 a month ($5,000 every 2 years) FUEL is the biggest killer... you can get a truck that gets 5mpg or a truck that gets 8mpg that alone can add up to tens of thousands you can spend or save... what kind of fsc do you get national avg...? less..? we get more... fuel discount....? we avg .32cpg off pump price so between fsc fuel milage and fuel discount we have not had to pay $100 a week for fuel in the last 4 months....
3100 miles round trip fsc of $1,800, thats .58cpm fsc. national avg is what .46..? our 30 day avg mpg is 6.59mpg, how much do you idle.....??? drive fast (our truck will go as fast as i want it to) spend more drive slower and spend less... remember that every hour you idle you are blowing $2.50-$3.50 up the stack. so do you idle or go to the motel...? the biggest thing is not how much you make (but it is important) it's how much you spend

Thank you and the others for the detailed financial information.

I like the "Not what you make, but what you keep" saying better , BUT I'm not quibbling over semantics and I'm sure everyone understands what your saying.

    Thanks again.

the reason i used spend is because you will be spending money on things you realy don't need.

things like a cb... you need one but do you need a $200-$300 cb...?
do you realy NEED a 26in hd tv...?
do you need a new laptop...?
if you have your own truck do you need chicken lights...?

    Lenrod Thanks this.

the term chicken lights is around 40 + years old.... back in the day (not so much now) if you were behind a chicken hauler at night and your headlights shined on the back of the trailer the chickens eyes would glow RED so it looked like 100's of little red lights.......

I've had a few $75+/- CB in my 4 wheelers for about for the last 20 years, and I can hear all the 'trucker talk' I need, and it's worked good enough to tell big rigs about there burned out lights they had.

26" I don't think so, since that what I have for my main living room TV right now. 19" should be fine (and I have one)

Laptops, I buy them as needed, the two my wife and I have should work a few more years.
Chicken lights (thanks for the history lesson, I never knew where that came from) do they have a function? I now there is some legal requirements, but I'm a form-follows-function kinda guy. I rather have cameras, or work lights.

Thanks for the list, it's more things to consider.
