Truck stops 25 years ago

Yea, I miss the old, homey truck stops of the past. I remember when I was a kid, I used to LOVE to go into a truck stop...now these "travel plaza's" are cold and unwelcoming to be sure. No fun anymore...

 

You mean the one where coffee was a no charge to drivers. Where the restaurant was divided between "professional drivers" and others? And smoking wasn't an issue it was expected?

 

I camped at the "Trailway" TS on Hwy 301 in Centreville, MD earlier this week. It was like a blast from the past. There are others, as well.

In the meanwhile, I try to be a loyal Petro customer because they are much more like the truck stops used to be, and, the truck diesel is sold in an area segregated away from the four wheelers and their tourist drivers.

Occasionally, circumstances force me into a Pilot, Loves, or Wilco/Hess. I hate it, but, the experience makes appreciate the Petro environment even more.

 

Since TA bought Petro, I would wonder if they will stay the way they are.

 

I hope so. Maybe T/A will learn a lesson or two and begin to follow the Petro business plan.
