Fort Smith to Dallas should be easy on 200 gallons...what is wrong with your truck?
BTW, where is the Fort Smith SC?

And why would you fuel at SCs? You don't get free showers that way...

The newer Cascadias with hundred gallon tanks don't have the range of the older trucks. The most I ever put in mine was 157 gallons and the needle had been on the bottom for a good while. I talked to one guy that put in 176 and he said he was sweating it.

I try to fuel off site only when necessary. It all helps toward profit sharing and most of our yards have decent showers now. Back when I started there were no restrictions on Comdata card. We didn't even have to send in a request. But we had guys getting fifty gallons a day whether they needed it or not just to get a truckstop shower. I saw drivers fueling at Pilot just a few miles from a terminal just because they were too lazy to drive a few extra blocks or they wanted points on their Pilot card.

That led to the way it is now, and based on the Quallcomm messages I've been seeing, it sounds like they may be ready to tighten it up some more.

The Cascadias will go way down close to E before having to get nervous. My old co-driver had to push it one night when we worked for USX. They had route solutions and fuel stops. It definitely had us pushing the limits on how far you could run it down. I've made it from Winslow AZ to Joplin MO and still had 1/4 tank left. Same motor and trans, just a manual instead of auto. I run out west, and away from service centers. So I usually have to stop for fuel at truck
Stops. Doesn't matter to me, so long as I keep running.

Topping off at SC's is just good sense. It does help save the company money and it gives me the peace of mind knowing I won't need fuel for awhile. I have been avoiding asking for fuel at truck stops because of the messages we have been getting on the qualcomm about fuel costs etc. I think Mustang may be right. They may be tightening it up even more.

I finished the week off with a Memphis to Chattanooga run and I start my week with a Chattanooga to Memphis LTL. Just waiting on the load to get finished loading and I will hit the night road.

My brother-in-law who was a trainer with Star out of Nashville is looking at going back on the road and applied with Averitt late last week. If he gets on it would be cool to run into him at SVC's and customers out on the road. We shall see what happens.

My Cascadia had a PM service over the weekend. They also replaced an injector. They said that is why it was spraying some oil. Doing my pre-trip the oil level is fine now. It looked like someone had over filled it before.

Hope you have a great week.

AUG is being remodeled and we will finally have showers, making it a little nicer for drivers passing through or having to wait for a relay.

I read earlier that you guys had a message that there were 400 more trucks than loads? I think I read that right, are you guys still running about the same now or had it slowed? Thinking very very seriously about making the move I just have to make sure I don't loose money.

I got word from my fleet manager that the accident with that sneaky tree limb in Knoxville was ruled non-preventable so no safety points taken from me. YES!

Sitting in Memphis still with about 15-20 other trucks. I guess this is a slow freight area this week? I had a load assignment that would get here tomorrow morning and I would run it up to our Cincinnati yard but it was taken off of me in hopes of a better run. Nothing yet. I am hoping to get that one back if I don't get something by tomorrow morning.

I forgot about this being a holiday weekend. I should have figured that might slow things down a bit.

Got some great backing practice today. Delivering at Tuesday Morning stores in Somerset and Lexington. First one not so bad. Lexington was blindside up a small rise in between a power pole and a building. Not too bad but it took some thinking before backing. Now in Fort Mitchell and this one was a bear. Had to turn the truck around in a Kroger dock area then back for about a block through a curvy area littered with trash dispensers and PODS. Finally got back to the dock and it was tight. Took about 15 minutes total but I got it done. Will get unloaded in the morning and hopefully have something heading me toward home.

How have your miles been lately? The last couple weeks have been less than normal. This week I'll be lucky to get 1300 but I sat for 32 hours in Memphis.
