Hey barefoot, you didn't say anything constructive. I'm sorry you had the problems you did and hope you're all healed up. I think the company has changed since then some for the better. I haven't had any serious problem here. So will only speak from personal experience and not what I hear or read. There are many issues that needs to be addressed in this industry. But getting people to agree on a course of action is probably the most difficult thing. When you speak of getting together, it usually leads to talk of unionizing. well that won't sit well with a lot of folks who think that leads to socialism, or that unions are all corrupt. Then what? An association of drivers?, same thing. Drivers need to stick up for themselves so it's usually a driver against the company. Guess who can afford the better lawyers?

Knight is very much a terminal by terminal kind of thing. Some terminals are unbelievably horrible to work for while others are actually decent.

Also if I neede to jump start the truck I would ask one or two drivers. It beats wiating for road service which could have been hours away. That's part of working in this industry. I ve helped other drivers with problems from changing air hoses to sliding tandems to calling their company on my cell phone in because they didn't have one. You shouldn't be embarrased to ask another trucker for help. We should be out here helping those in need.

    Ok enough ranting.

    RizenPhoenix Thanks this.

i worked on the refrigerated side of Knight for about 4 months.Never had any problems getting to the house after 4 or 5 weeks out. Only reason I left was due to a illness in my family I needed to be home for. Now my Dispatcher and I did have issues but that was it.

(I agree, Barefootstallion didn't have anything constructive to say....barefoot - just stay out of it then....RizenPhoenix can say anything he wants to...)

Forget about lawyers....for changes....we need to do it ourselves re: all corrupt national trucking companies...whether it's C.R.E. and Werner or any others... We need to figure it out....but really, the BS about "how many cents per mile" has to stop. Long haul truckers need to be paid appropriately...appropriately, is an annual salary + pay per load.....nothing under $50,000....and when truck repairs are not authorized by the dispatcher or FM....the dispatcher and/or FM and their immediate supervisor need to be fired from their job positions....or they should be arrested for not letting us drive safely....

You might not have to worry about it with all the new rules from congress add to the bs that making drivers leave these companies.

Now when it comes to Knight the Charotte, NC terminal, the drivers I talk to say everything good over there. Knight actually have a dedicated run going from NC to NJ back & forth, but by reading these comments you all got me pondering.....

Okay..I like what you are saying here.....it's legally referred to as a "Criminal Syndicate." Werner, C.R.E. and others simply regulate what they will offer to drivers through their administrations.....Werner and C.R.E. business methods keep their drivers literally "hungry."

This is a conversation I witnessed between my trainer and their dispatcher....

Dispatcher - talking to trucker: "well, if you are hungry, you are just going to have to take whatever load assignment I give you...so you can refuel and get points on your UltraOne Card."....(and then with accumulative points, you can buy a piece of pizza and take a shower at the next truck stop)..."But you won't get your pizza until you finish your load assignment....and I will decide how much I want to pay you and if I want to pay you, at all....and, maybe I won't even let you get paid, at all....because that's my decision."

Well, obviously, truck drivers get angry, stressed and frustrated.....(and with good reason!).

Now...after the Werner dispatcher said this to my trainer; my trainer is required to train me and to haul a full tractor trailer through heavy USA traffic, road construction, adhering to ALL DOT and State Law requirements, (remember, the trucker is without any A/C when the truck is stopped because Werner refuses to pay for the truckers to have A/C or heat - reduced idle time and no APU) wondering in the back of their mind if Werner is going to file a false DAC against them if they try to leave their job positions.....and how they are going to feed their kids and pay the mortgage.......and the trainer is responsible for me, the student.....

These national trucking companies target the USA homeless population because the USA homeless population is already starving to death and will not be as disagreeing to the illegal work ethics of Werner and C.R.E. To these trucking companies disadvantage, many of our USA homeless maintain a clean MVR and no criminal history because they are under the age of 18 years old....humm, imagine that, well, Werner and C.R.E. can't use the homeless if they are under 18....

Werner and C.R.E.'s business methods are very malicious and criminal....their business methods are criminally syndicated.

    Wow, just wow.

So, the purpose of trucking companies is to take care of the homeless? I never knew this, thank you for the information!
