Here's a question of my own that I cannot find answered (or haven't looked hard enough for): What do most of you truckers use for internet service when you're on the road?

I know I can use my phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot, as long as I have a digital signal, but my wife and I would like to use Skype while I'm on the road, and that will eat away at my allotted data usage very quickly (AT$T sux).

    Thanks in advance! :thumbright:

Hello. My wife and I live "On the road" in our RV. I have my CDL and am looking for tanker work in TX. We have a forwarding service with Americas Mail Box, http://www.americas-mailbox.com/ They provide a real street address in SD and forward our mail to where ever we ask. We have been VERY happy with them. Check them out. If you use them, use me as a referral, #4081 and I think we both get a bounos for that. I hope this helps.

Ok not sure if I missed this q & a... Newbie... Wondering about taxes. So I see here that I have to have a street address for taxes. Ok. I'll deal with that. Me ad my husband are looking to drive for a company and stay in the road for as long as we can. Not leasing. Just teaming and driving. I've seen some info regarding taxes but I never know what's true. I saw that the IRS will allow $59/day just for being on te road. That we can write off all our meals/food stuffs while on the road. Pens, computer, showers, laundry, and anything we buy specifically for trucking. ( fridge, inverter, etc) hotels if we need them etc.. I understand that whoever replies may not be a tax advisor. I'm just looking for basic info. Thanks so very much!!

Sal-XK: I kept exploring the site and found helpful- albeit confusing information here:

I copied and pasted the website from my browser. I hope it works for you. I posted a question regarding this 'per diem' pay. Seems like its not a good thing to claim but I don't understand it at all. May need to hire a real deal CPA for this stuff!!!
