Newb and an Over Analyizer...So Many companies and looking for best fit - long

I am going to go with Stevens and haul reefer's I figure everyone needs groceries.

 

Maverick has autos but they are flatbed. Their pay is good though. Superior Carriers has a terminal in Charleston which is like an hour and a half from you. They are tankers/hazmat but their pay and benefits are really good.

 

If you cant get onboard with anyone try stevens. The training is pretty extensive and way longer than any other company's, but they look really good on your resume and they make sure you know your stuff before you get cut loose. Also consider that theyre primarily reefer, so you get that experience as well. And dont worry about driving stick, I probably grinded more gears than my entire class at school and after the 2nd or 3rd week with an otr trainer it started to become second nature. Plus, if you wanna change companies and its been a while since youve drove a standard, youd have to requalify, plus a lot of outfits are going back to sticks, aaand well do you really wanna habe a cdl and not know how to drive a standard? Not hassling you dude, I wanted to find a company with autos and now Im glad I use a standard. And your otr trainer probably wont even let you use the clutch unless youre braking, so dont be afraid of floating -- you seem like an over thinker, and trust me, you may want an automatic now but youll be so bored without a stick, it gives you something to do besides chainsmoke and choke the chicken on I70. If you can run a sub crew Im pretty sure you can tell a few gears what to do, lol. Another good thing about stevens is if you go to orientation, its a guaranteed job. Wiener pre-hired me and then said they didnt have anything for me when I called them...and from what Ive gathered, prehires from a lot of other companies dont really mean much either, even if you do get to orientation.

And dont sweat the cb commandos, come up with something incredibly sarcastically gay like you would in the navy and be treated to some classic idiocy lol

On second thought, Watkins Shepherd is falling short in the tractor department lately. There is a terminal over in one of the Carolinas.
