I just recently got out of trucking school, and have only just got my CDL. Despite being new to the industry, I was one of my school's top performing students, and had some very strict teachers who knew their stuff very well.

A week later, I left for Werner Enterprises's Atlanta GA Terminal for orientation having got the prehire just before I started school. Two days in, I was turned down. They deemed me unable to cope with the industry not because I could not drive the truck but because of my social disadvantage. They did not think I would be able to deal with unfriendly people or "represent" the company well. And so they sent me back home, and now here I am searching for a new company that will take graduates.

I know I am not the most socially active person on the planet, but I am quite capable of learning, listening, judging, and whatnot. And if one was a social genius who could play other people like instruments, would they wish to become truckers? The industry seemed like the kind of thing that required people who could get their hands dirty and take heat from people and the world, rather than be the Model Employee.

What companies might I try that are less likely to have this unwritten requirement?

No, though I was one of few in that number, and three people who did swear in my class made it through. It might have been because of how characteristically shy I am. I didn't even get a trainer though, so I had no way to demonstrate my abilities or learn what I might have been missing.

And I'll give Trans Am a look into, thanks.

Asperger Syndrome. I have social defecit but a high cognitive function. In comparing neurological terms to computer terms, less buffer but more memory.

That's just a frickin same, Remousamavi.

As to whom you can look into for alternatives, there are dozens of companies that will hire just-out-school graduates.

    Check out this site: http://www.hiringtruckdrivers.com/

Best of luck to you. Here is to wishing you success. And we can chock up just one more horror story for good old Werner. :yes2557:
