Mark (In general) what is the typical lag time from when a new map or other update becomes available and when Rand finds out there are bugs? Reason I ask is I'd sooner wait until it has been proven safe/bug free.

Posting on one thread is good enough. We do not have to "shotgun" the same post accross several threads.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Kind of a tough question. Rand runs several months of testing on any new map set and may go through several compliles before a final version of maps is ready. If it is something that NavTeq has to correct then it goes back to NavTeq. It would probably not make the current mapset.

Bugs in software are a different story. Rand tries to find all the issues, but sometimes they do slip through. Once we are aware of it depending on how major the issue is will depend if a updated version is released sooner rather than later.

Nothing will every be 100% bug free or maps 100% up to date. Rand does respond to those items that are found and submitted to the correct source to be corrected.

I know it is not a cut and dry answer, but any type of software is always ongoing to update issues found or features added.

PS, I did see your PM. Hopefully I should be able to respond within the next few days.

    Thanks,
    Mark

I HARDLY "shotgun"ed the same post "across several threads".

    Two is not "several"!

By definition "several" is: "being more than two but fewer than many in number or kind." (Dictionary.com is a useful tool when one doesn't know the definition of a word.)

    Exaggerate much do we?

Just FYI, I posted the issue here and a different version of the same message in another forum with a different focus.

As has been pointed out, this forum is for support, of which I received no offer of from you, and the other is a general discussion started by another user who is dissatisfied with his unit.

So, before you start trying to insult people for expressing their thoughts, please make sure you know the definitions of the words that you're using to insult them.

By posting in two different threads - this forces me to basically respond to the same post in two different threads. If I only respond to one, then someone may not see that and they will see that I did not respond to the one they are reading.

So, if the posts are along the same line please try to keep them in one thread. We have had users before Shotgun the same post all over the place.

I did offer support in one of the other threads that you posted it.

I never insult anyone on this website. I treat each one with respect. I just saw both posts that were basically the same thing on two different threads.

But, depending on how far back we go I would be correct also.

    Word Origin & History

    several
1422, "existing apart," from Anglo-Fr. several, from M.Fr. seperalis "separate," from L. separe (ablative of *separ "distinct"), back formation from separare "to separate" (see separate). Meaning "various, diverse, different" is attested from 1508; that of "more than one"
EXPANDis from 1531, originally in legal use.

    Thanks,
    mark

.....and now to the educational part of the show. Just shows what one might miss by not following this thread. :)

Thanks for the etomology on the word "several". But since we're living in the 21st century and not the 15th, we should probably use the "modern definition", huh?

In order to keep from having to admit a mistake, one must go back 500+ years, huh?

    Interesting.

    Mark,
Run the routing from Elkton, MD to Chester,VA. It seems after I did the update I would say a month ago. The route changed it has 95 s to 895 s 495 w.
    895 is a no no

Actually it would be the 20th century since we have not hit the 2100 year yet... a common misnomer.

    Thanks,
    mark
