Suppport Thread for the TND 500, TND 700 or future Rand McNally products.

This is just my .02. I think it would be helpful to all of us who read this thread to state when you bought the unit.

 

I bought it the first week it came out (in June?).

 

I have LTM on my TND710 sn710-003247 but my dock says I need to purchase or enter a code to get LTM. I have contacted tech support and they verified I have LTM. So why can I not download the new map update?

 

Actually, we have been in the 21st century since Jan 01, 2001! I can't believe you're actually trying to argue with me about what century this is!

The "common misnomer", confusion, etc. was about whether the 21st century started on Jan 01, 2000 or 2001 and it's 2001.

Perhaps before you try to correct someone on something you should do a little homework and make sure that you know what you're talking about as you clearly do not know how something as simple and straightforward as the calendar works.

I find it hilarious when some "know it all" tries to show everyone how smart they are by correcting someone else and their "correction" is wrong and they wind up looking stupid themselves!!

Perhaps you should familiarize yourself with the "Dunning-Krueger Effect"., I'll include a link below for your convenience:

I guess that explains why my TND 710 sucks so badly, huh? Rand McNally employees apparently think it's still the 20th century and thus their products must still be using "20th century technology" in the 21st century!!

Same thing started happening on my current trip. Just connected dock before this trip to update.

Not sure exactly where it happened but I know it happened twice leaving truck stops after fueling, so I had just cleared waypoints.

 

Years 0 thru 100, on our modern calendar, were considered the first century. Years 101 through 200 were the second century. We now live in the 21st century.
