U better get use to tight docks and getting in tight places. Welcome to meat hauling. If you are going to Hobby Lobby warehouse that place is huge. So im sure the docks are not that tight. Now if you going to a store that might be tight.

How did you do with truck selection monday? Also what are u doing fueling at 66 dont you get big discounts at bigger truck stops.?

If you are not comfortable backing up in tight places you should practice every chance you get and even do some blind side backing because you will have to show off those skills. Sooner then later. Have a great day.

K4 grats man in terms of prep id say just reread what i posted so u know what to expect and just relax that first week isnt much but classroom , tried to edit but u cant edit drive time, itried so i dont think u can. We do get fuel discounts but my short haul didnt have any fuel solution in it. I took 3 days to finally pick out my truck its perfect at 47k miles as they went ahead and did the 50k miles and nothing for me to do until 97k miles (ill b gone by then) yea good idea about practicing my backing.

I was told that if you try a blind side ally dock and TransAm finds out they will fire you.

In that case, I hope that TA has personally sent somebody out to inspect each and every shipper and receiver!!! There's lots of places you'll blind at.

Don't be nervous about tight spaces. Just take your time, assess the situation, take a deep breath, take your time, g.o.a.l. if you have to... I had a few really tight spots I had to back into that took me a while, once there was a driver from another company that helped me, I could have woken my husband up but I hated doing that so I just got 'er done lol.

At SNI if we needed to edit drive time we had to call a phone number and have them do it for us. Most of the time this happened to us because we would forget to switch drivers in the qualcomm, so for example he would be out of time, pull over switch drivers, I would put myself on pti, then after I did my pti I would start to drive but the drive time would go on his time not mine (grrr) we did it at least once a month too lol drove me crazy. Anyway, you would think TA has a person in an office somewhere that can edit this for you?

I think there is because i messaged my dm and asked why i was having problems and she gave me a phone number to call to help edit it, but i eventually figured it out.
Btw just did my first drop an alley dock to hobby lobby in okc, i couldnt back it in i tried like 6 times and eventually one of the hobby lobby trailer mover guys told me to drop it and he backed it in..... It is a tight ### lot though i had no room to pull up i had to get it in first try which didnt happen , so i guess i failed. This is the one thing in this business that stresses me,nothing else, i hope i get proficient and quick because every day im not confident is another day of suffering.

    strawberryrhubarbpie Thanks this.

Well day one in Rockwell is done. Found out today that we will be having Sat and Sun off. Sucks because I have no transportation and limited funds. Can walk to walmart but that is a mile down the road.

Use that time to study, rest, think about your classes, talk to other drivers. Stay focused, and you will be just fine.
