Catfish, how ya doing?! No, it isn't. I'm one of a few drivers who actually has my passport out of my terminal.

Truckhero... this isn't my first rodeo with tanks, so I know what I'm up against. I could say more, but shouldn't have to, especially if you know anything about me like many of the other tanker yankers between this forum and many others.... ;-) Now, did you drive here yourself and if so, are you still here? If not, why did you leave?

    Just a quick update...

Nothing major to report right now, just covering some basics of the last week or so. Started last week with finishing time off and returned to work with a load from Savannah destined for WI, which I dropped at Alsip then, hooked to a preloaded tank that I emptied a little ways from Cleveland. From there I bounced to the tank wash/yard in Parker, PA, dropped my dirty tank, and picked up another preload that unloaded in the Tampa area. Now here is where the really good stuff begins because my next run is gonna be a doozy.....

Later on I'll finish running up into GA to get my tank washed out then reload asap headed for Washington state. Here's the kicker, and I am not making this up: before any accessorial pay this run is going to pay me just over .70/mile alone for the trip up, and I should be able to get a decent back haul to return east, south, wherever! :smt023

Man I'm jealous. I would love to get out of the dry van world but the thought of learning tanker (going out with a trainer) at some crap hole company to get my feet wet makes my stomach turn .

Then don't go that way. If your van exp. is solid and clean then grab yourself a local gas job or a regional oil job like for a distributor. Do 6 mos clean there and step up. You can work your way up.

The food grade guys will give you a look, Florida tank and rock is always looking or you could go talk to a Henniff recruiter, tell him what you want and then ask him just what do i need to do. He might have options or suggestions. Get his email and buddy up. Stay fresh in his mind by advising him of your progress towards requirements.....work the program! Do you want this career? Do you want to work for this guy?

The package and pay Cyanide quoted is good. It's also rare in common carrier. Ins at 30 days is rare too. These folks deserve a place on your target list of carriers.

Bottom line is you will have to ride with someone pretty much anywhere you go. If you want it then own that and do it.

    C'mon?

    BigGee and Cyanide Thank this.

    Crystal Pistol...now that's a name I haven't heard in a L-O-N-G time!

anj8488...one thing ya already have working against you is living in Bradenton. Well, it's great if ya wanna pull for River, Bynum, or Oakley but where's the fun (or sanity) in that? The companies I can think of off the top of my head who will possibly train you living down there would be McKenzie Tank Lines and CTL for chemical tanks, and possibly Carry Transit and/or Transport Service Corp. for food grade tanks.

Chalupa...very well said and thanks for the input!
