Just from this forum it really seems to me if your going to get a company to pay for your cdl training classes that the best way to go would be PRIME or Stevens.. Although I can tell that everyone says dont do it cause you sell your soul for a year...but if you can pick the best from the bad situation it seem that these 2 companies have more positive than any other....Would veterans in the industry agree with me or not

It is hard to get Truckers to agree with what time it is.....Much less what Co. is the best to train with! :dontknow: That being said it seems you have done your research and have about made up your mind. Good luck with whatever Co.you go with.

My hubby started with Stevens after getting his CDL through a program in Michigan, I went through Stevens' school after 'riding' for a year and a half with him. I just completed 2 years and our lease is up in December. Overall we have been very happy at Stevens, they just aren't reallt set up for team drivers. Stevens is very safety concious which doesn't always set well with some drivers, but a lot of the 'hand-holding' goes away after your first year. Good Luck wherever you decide to go.

Didn't spend a whole lot of time researching,

    did you ?

    For example,

don't Millis and Roehl offer good training ?

    And there are others.

The company you start out with, can/will make you or break you !

    research here IS free..........

    TMC!!!

there are a few complains, but i can find tons of complains about prime. TMC has one of the best training programs. There is no "best company". Some need more home time, some want to make the most money, some care about the truck, some want good training.

I want to become a truck driver and I am looking for a company that provides training. I applied with Prime because they allow a dui with less than 5 years. Their website says it has to be at least 4 years old if you want to be in their CDL training program. Mine is 4 years and 3 months old. I have been unemployed since last year. They told me I don't qualify because I am not currently working. I have a good work history before I became unemployed. I asked the recruiter, so basically your policy does not allow the hiring of anyone currently unemployed? She said yes. I couldn't believe it!! Is there anyone else that has experienced this? I am stunned that a company will not hire if your currently unemployed. I even told the lady that I had all my unemployment statements to show that I was on unemployment.
