I am a student driver and just had a quick question about hometime. My home address is in louisville, ky but my daughter lives in christiansburg,va. Would i be able to request a load near there for my hometime? Im starting at central refrigerated and i understand when im a new driver hometime will be scarce but I was just curious about this.

home time policies are all different. you have to look at where the freight is, where it is going and where you are sitting. requesting loads with big companies might not be a problem. the problem is getting a load out of a specific location. all you can do is ask.
-
depends on the company...my company (TMC) just sends me home loaded for a Monday delivery. They will let me go up to 150 miles out of route to get home.

At Swift all I had to do was request it from My DM and he would get me where I need to be, But I never complained and always took the loads he sent me no whining crying or any of that. Just go and they will work with you
TRKRSHONEY Thanks this. -

I split my home times between my daughters in Denver and other family in MN.
With Swift it is a simple Qcom message telling them when and where.mohawktrucker Thanks this. -
Where are you out of i start school soon and tmc is one of my choices

I am in refrigerated and we go through VA all of the time so I hope whichever company you pick does the same and you would be able to spend home time there then.

Ya, was just going to say, Central has a lot of freight that goes through there so it shouldn't be a problem. Your problem will be actually getting the home time.

You would need to talk to your fm,but i dont see a problem why not.
