I am felon. I am vet (retired Colonel Air Force.) Trucking companies will hire you. Should you talk about it, not to a non vet. Combat makes you do silly stuff. All combat is silly when you stop and think about it. Can you tell me what the h e l l we were doing in Vietnam? No one interviewing you has walked in your shoes so s cr ew them. Apply to have your discharge up graded. You can do that every six months. Bad Conduct is not a final finding. Dis honorable is.
I think, kidnapping under fire, shows you will do whatever it takes to get the truck and cargo home safely. I thank you for you service no matter what the army says. You did more then sit safety at home and watch the towers fall. -

trusted to be 100 percent truthful with them, they're not going to risk giving you their ####. -

Here is a easy way to find out what shows up, go to your local law enforcement and pay to get finger printed and ask for a personal background check.
Pay them and then your record will be sent back to you, has to be a hard card also known as the roll and print fingerprint back ground check. -

You'll have to list your jobs on the application. When you list the military most if not all will ask for your DD214 long form since they can not verify your history any other way. Then they will see your discharge. I'd be honest and explain it. It's better to be up front then getting caught in a lie. But before you do any applying check their website and see if they do hire felons. Some will say no felons in past 5 years, some will say 10 years, and some will say none at all. But at least you'll know before you go in.
I really don't know military law but it seems to me that a charge like that should stay in the military. There's just too many charges under the UCMJ that does not apply to the civilian side. I don't think I'd tell them but that's me. I'd just explian that my discharge was due to the convenience of the government. They can not search out your military record for details. That is if it's not listed on any other forms or printouts. Check real close and just go from there. -
