4" to 6" of fresh white stuff expected above 10,000 ft in Southern and Southwestern Colorado tonight. Already getting light snow and rain/snow above 11,000 in the Central and Northern Hills.

running 550 on Monday, took some great quickie pics with the cellphone of the colors, it was awsome. Really want to play in the hills today, instead they decided I needed to go play with dead cows and hual their hides, so it was down to Cactus and back.

I don't need winter EVER! I wish it were always autumn... all year long. Nice temp, not too hot, not too cold, no pollen... I don't miss the icy roads, the hazards it creates, the constant mess on the windshield :biggrin_25510: the short days and long nights, the painful cold on my feet, my hands, fingers, nose, ears, eyes... :biggrin_25510: This is the worst time of the year to be out here driving the big truck... For me, it's not fun, it's very stressful all the time... :biggrin_2552:

I was born and raised in a tropical country with no snow at all. After 20 years in the US, the very first time I drove on snow, was in the big truck, at night in Washington state.... :biggrin_25521: First it started raining... I thought it was rain... But then, the rain got REALLY thick and white... :biggrin_2554: and then the windshield started to freeze... :biggrin_2554: Finally I realized that was snow... :biggrin_2555: IMG! Some supertruckers passed me in a hurry.... I just held that steering wheel as if my life depended on it and drove... and drove at 35 mph through that snow until it stopped.... couldn't see the road, the shoulder... all was white... :biggrin_2554: I learned how to drive on the snow (and some icy) in the big truck, by myself, on my first 6 months of trucking.... I don't like it at all... :biggrin_25513: But I learned a lot! From my own experiences, from other experienced drivers and also reading this forum. :biggrin_25519: Had one very scary moment... but so far so good... Thank God! :yes2557:

    Winter does two things.....
My rates go up because the NAFTA drivers stay below 40 and many stay below 10....
So fewer trucks means higher rates.....

That also makes CDOT very happy.....Fewer NAFTA drivers makes for happy Troopers and happy Scale Jockeys.....If they're happy...They're less apt to pull us over.....Then I'm happy....
