I know what they say but wouldn't a trailer over 13'6 be classified as an "oversize" load thus requiring permits for being over 13'6 in certain states.

That I dont know. From my understanding in Texas you can go 14'. I know alot of the car haulers run over height without permits. Luckily I dont have to worry about that with my 4 car set trailer. My tallest was 13'7".

But I think that its crazy that they are labeled as 13'6" when the true height is taller.

Does this mean we will actually start receiving voicemails?? Can't even begin to count the number of missed calls we get from "Stevens Transport" with no voicemail!! And the 'switchboard" isn't too helpful when you call back and say, "I had a call from this number", LOL And what about the instances where a driver is in an area of poor QC reception so that they do not get the QC message for an hour or so, or cannot read & resond to the message because they are driving with no place to pull over to read it?? Is there a way that you can tell when they got the message??

One big problem we have with repower requests, besides the obvious one of not making good business sense on our end, is that we 'set up' our day of driving according to the load we are on. As a married couple, we DO like to spend time together so if we can set up so that we are both awake, we do. Then, near the end of our 'driving day' comes the call for a repower that is going to require back to back 11-hr shifts. At this point, we have both been up all day, does not make sense from a SAFETY standpoint now. I know Stevens doesn't like this refusal, but it makes more sense than a rolled trailer/lost load. And, No, we are not going to stay on 'opposite' shifts 7 days a week, just in the off-chance that they call for a repower. Besides, we rarely get repowers when we are running 2-days ahead, so why should we bust our butts to 'help' when another driver has 'burned' the load by 'moseying' across country at a snail's pace?? I know that drivers that are ahead of schedule are at the bottom of the list, but what is the incentive to always give, but receive nothing in return?? That's what the company drivers are for, they 'supposedly' aren't supposed to refuse unless the load they are on is taking them home for T/O, etc.

And that is my rant for today.

We are taking our Fl nat load to the Colton yard and drooping it there. Then we grab an Mt and head up to Salinas to Taylor farms for a load going to Dallas. Currently in La's Cruces and I'm going to put in 600 miles today if I can. It will be a new personal best for me.

I meant 13-7". See what happens when you're in a hurry?!

Just finished 632 for the day. Feeling kind of proud of myself. Not bad in a 62 mph truck in 10.5 hours with the last hundred or so in Calif.

I measured the trailers over a year ago and at the back they are 13' 7" when empty. The added brace across the top to hold the doors on. 13'6" is a "standard".

Dispatch is the problem not repowers. Maybe the owners need to start setting up actual relay runs like line haul does or go to actual teams.

I learned a lot while at stevens, but the lack of sense was what drove me to look else where. And that management is reactionary and not proactive.

But with out moving freight, there would be no training.
