In other words don't lease, unless you have your own money to burn, because you won't make enough to feed your kids, pay the rent, etc... Glad you cleared that up for everyone....

The problem with people that get hired is they lease thinking it's easy, IP nailed it on the head.

Wrong. With a comment like that it's obvious why so many people can't get ahead in business. Leasing is just one method of obtaining assets used to generate income - there are advantages to it that you don't get with ownership. In any case unless you have adequate cash reserves to finance your business (and that's on YOU not the carrier since indpendent contractors are responsible for their own finances) the first large hit will deplete what's in your pocket, and send you into the hole.

Have cash? You survive the bumps, and life is good. Spend it all like an employee would - crash and burn.

8-9 hundred a week just for the truck and 50-60 a week for a tripac. let alone insurance and other fees they charge. that says enough about their lease program. then, half the people leasing dont have a clue about taxes and will get letters from the irs... bad bad bad...

Huh??? Throw ALL of the fees into that number you quote for the truck, and that includes funding the tire replacement escrow. Then remember that most places take all of the repairs out of your hide. Unless you have a short term lease, the tractor will be covered by factory warranty for nearly the life of the lease.

Awww.... ya know, we gotta take it slow. If we went any faster we'd get there before we left! :laughing-guffaw:

Besides, I enjoy seeing the same rigs passing me three, four, five times a day - and they park at the same places I do!
