Yesterday is hands down the worst day I have had driving ever...

Started off, missed my fuel stop, couldn't find the freaking Pilot at Clinton NJ... oh well I have enough fuel for all my drops. Get to first one early, park, making breakfast I spill the eggs... blanket needs to be washed now. Dinish forst drop head to second... downtown Jersey City, small freaking Grocery store... can't see a way in except maybe the deadend street I had already passed... so try going around the block. First left, no problem, second left, step van parked all the way at the corner... no problem, I am super trucker and I can make jt, just have to start the turn, then back up just a ljttle to #### the cab more, and yes I did, I hit a parked car when I was backing. So I do everything I am supposed to, call the police, he makes a report, we locate the owner, I give her al the insurance info then off I go, by this time of course the step van is gone and I make the turn... drive down four blocks, next left, two more blocks another left and as I am approaching the reciever here comes a parking cop racing up in his three wheeler sayinflg I just hit a car, I said I knkw I just finished with the police, he said no it was a different car. The police show up again, I get a ticket for leaving the scene of an accident I didn't even know happened. The police then help me get into the receiver... 90° jack around just so I can pull back out the gate I cam in to back to the dock... truck is way to big for this. So now since my company requires photos of all accidents I go back to where the second accident is said to have taken place and there is no wrecked car there, there is no evidence of one hit, suxh as broken plastic on the ground or what not, no other driver to exchange info with etc... I have no police report from the second, just a ticket for leaving the scene, which wil result in a one year suspension if I am found guilty even though I did not know I left and had jsut reported an accident 30 minutes prior... so I call an attorney.

Bad day so far but while ai am sitting at the reciever, I look in the mirror and the reffer unit is coding out... not running, it is 20° higher than it is supposed to be. Meat load too have to wait for TK service to come out and fix it...

Tiday I am sure will be a drug test and then be routed back to the yard for saftey breifings and retesting etc... what fun!

At least the days moving forward have got to be better than yesterday. Whoever thought 53' trailer in Jersey City was a good idea is a major icehole!

KMac; sorry to hear your uneventful event, I hated NJ myself, How can they ticket you for leaving the scene of an accident when there is no vehicle or evidence of an accident. You should protest that ticket. Did they say where and do they have a report of this second accident?. Hopefully DP wont sent anybody there anymore.

    Good you contacted an attorney.

Be sure to follow company procedure to a T.

Serious offense, hope you get a good lawyer.

Many areas in NJ and NY just plain suck. Especially with a 53' and a road tractor. I've done my share, but nowadays I just refuse all loads going to those areas. You may not have that option, I realize, but too many things can go wrong when one tries to put a 65' long rig into a 65. 1' space. :(

Thats gotta be one of the suckiest days which in my book is next to rolling the truck over and thus putting ur CDL in jeopardy regardless! Hopefully that attorney will save u. I still dont get if there was a second car u grazed why didnt the owners hit u up? they left? proly riding dirty and all u hold is a nasty ticket for it.

Attorney says that if what I have told him is true and my driving record beibg clean he is pretty certain that the worst will probbably be a lowering of the charge to a failure to report, which will be a few points and a fine, but no loss of license... he said it depended a lot on the cops who in his words can quite frwnkly be iceholes with a capitol A in Jersey City if one has gotten loud, belligerent or rude with... I actually got along fine with them. They blocked traffic for me so I could get backed into the reciever and gave me a number to call if I thought I needed an escort out of town. So hopefully they won't be pricks about it.

One example.of an exchange, cop "how long have you been driving?" Me "5 years" cop " ok so you know how to drive it, you jist don't know how to drive it in the city" Me "it would be hard to argue against that after this morning" cop "Lets see if we can get you into that dock"

No arguing, no fusing etc. and I was the one who called in the first one.

My goodness, I read your first post and now this one and one thing stands out the most-- you're not screaming, kicking, throwing and acting like a complete jerk because you had a (considerably) bad day. I really have to hand it to you, I'm not sure I have that kind of restraint of pen and tongue, bravo to you! I too hope all turns out well for you...I may not have much faith in mankind, but God works some pretty fantastic magic. ;-)

OUCH! I guess someone had a worse day than me--for I rear-ended someone yesterday putting my yet-to-be-a-trucker dreams in jeapordy. Here in Chicago, no sane outfit sends a 53-footer to a hole-in-the-wall. Usually, there are meat lockers where the stuff is offloaded and then sent out in 24' or smaller straight trucks.

Yes---I get called names for wanting to avoid the Northeast--calling my shots they say--but it is posts like yours that hammer me in the head to avoid the Northeast.
