Cry me a river.
For the respect of the moderators of this forum I will refrain from going any further on the issue of Islam. I believe my point has been clearly made.
But I will go further into the topic of tolerance. I will give respect to those who deserve it, not to those who abuse it. It is not childish to identify the evils and the intolerance of others. Why should I give respect to anyone, who will not provide me the same respect? If this action that I refer to was limited to the few, to just indiviuals, I would agree that a broad brush of intolerance was unjustified. But that is not the case with this issue. We are talking about the mentality of entire countries. We are talking about intolerance at every level of association. Why should I compromise what I truly believe for the benefit of these barabarians.
When I'm judged, I will be judged for my sins and mistakes. I'm responsible for what I believe. I hold that responsibility very seriously. I might NOT be right about a lot of things, but I be damed if I allow this perversion to exist in my presence. I'll be damed if I will allow a "warm fuzzy feeling" to exist through this corruption of humanity.
Once again, glad to be living in America

Well then maybe you should take a look at histroy too. In the 40's & 50'S there were alot of women who carried this country, through some tough times . And the 60's were about change not just about a sexual revolution, It was also about standing up to authority and to change. Most men that I know will and do protect there families with a passion. Now try to come between a mother and her child. -

Cav, are you mad at me? Is it something i said, somthing i did or did'ent do? I know it's been awile but i meant to post, realy i did.
It's just that i agreed with you for the first time ever, and i got none of the witty comebacks that i oh so enjoy ..... -
Why would I be mad at you. lol
On this issue there's nothing witty that comes to mind.
If I'm wrong about this then I'm sure I'll pay for it at some point. But I'm tired of bending over backwards, selling out what I believe in, while trying to get along with the entire world at the expense of who I am.
Sometimes, I think we should look at an issue for what it is, and not hide behind the fear of be labeled as intolerant, or ignorant. Sometimes I think you need to stand in the middle of the street and yell at the top of your lungs in what you believe in. If more Americans would do this, we wouldn't have an illegal immigration issue, we wouldn't be excusing the punishment of a rape victim, we wouldn't be afraid to recognize our God equally as other do theirs. -
You know, my point was not to judge an entire race of people by the politics of the country in which they live. Do you hate every Muslim person you meet, even if they are an American citizen by birth?? That's just silly!!
Do you agree with every law and policy of the United States? If so, I'm amazed. I live in Canada and love it here but definitely don't agree with ALL the laws and policies here.
I'd never condemn an entire country or race or religious group of people, period. I try to judge each person by his/her own merits, etc.
I absolutely hate that USA has gone to war. Most Canadians agree with me. It doesn't mean I hate the USA or the people who are going to war (the soldiers) or anything else. It means I don't like that particular part of the "rules" in that country. I hate that Quebec doesn't have English on all their signs. It doesn't mean I hate all French people who live in Quebec but I hate their government policy that prohibits English from signs in MY country!!!
That's what I was trying to get at - sorry if I wasn't clear. Punishing a rape victim is just wrong no matter how you look at it, period. -

Maybe it's easier to say, I haven't met a muslim I've liked. lol
I understand that generalizations on most issues are hard to defend. But in this case, I do regard muslims (Islam) the same as I do child molesters, or rapists. I'm sure there are some child molesters that are nice people, but they like to abuse childern. Read the articles about Islamic law, read about how they regard everyone who's not Islamic, how they really regard women, how they treat their own people. Then try to come back and tell me it's my responsiblity to tolerate them.
There was a time in our history when it was legal for a slave owner to whip a slave. A black person was not recgonized equally in the law. In fact it took a Constitutional admendment to recognize a black person as a person at all. That was our period of inhumanity, and we are still being judge and paying for that today.
I like to think we're a civilized soiciety, capable of recognizing true intolerance because of our past mistakes. I consider it my responsibility as a real American to recognize Islam for what it is, not excuse it in the name of being tolerant.
Personally I don't feel as obligated as you to disregard the truth of what something is for the benefit of compliance. I wonder where we would be at on the issue of civial rights, and women's rights if these issues were addressed so passively in our history. Maybe blacks would still be whipped by their slave owners if this mentality remained. -
Passive? No, I'm not passive. I just try to not judge without a bucketful of evidence. And if you remember, there never WAS legal slavery in Canada, far as I know
So we just did it right in the first place!! LOL
Quebec didn't agree with the rest of Canada about the status of women until recently. In the '70s, women could not own property in Quebec, for crying out loud, but they can now.
We're not as passive as you think we are!! -
