I'm the OP of this thread. If memory serves me right, I had a Sprint card at the time, it was only getting 1xrtt. I purchased the time from Pilot, and when I ran a speedtest, the numbers were EXACTLY the same as my card. When I called tech support, the help person informed me that yes, they did indeed have the router connected to a Sprint aircard. Both Verizon and AT&T had 3G up ad running in that area, Sprint did not. I was kind of infuriated at the time by the lack of research and the poor decision to put a 2G Aircard in a router used by a dozen or more people at any given time, when faster aircards were out there. Sprint has since upgraded their towers in that area, in fact it wasn't much more than a week or two after my original post. I'm still waiting on the promised tool embedded on the log-on page so we can test the speed before we decide to make a purchase. -
The service is still horrible everywhere Ive tried it.

You can't always park close or closer to the antenna, and that doesn't always solve things.
I use the pilot/flyingj network as a backup to my sickly tmobile service. Some days, even parked at a flyingj or pilot, I can't use the net PERIOD. -
bottom line is it's half and half. i've been all over the country and i can certainly say that verizon isn't better then anyone else.
every wifi spot i've used has been slow. even at motels. what also sucks is you can have great 3 or 4g OUTSIDE. on your phone. but go inside and forget it.Dieselboss Thanks this. -
best time to use truck stops wifi is the AM not many ppl on it

yep. i tried pilot's wifi for a couple months when i started. half of the pilot's had no service, and half of the ones that advertised for wifi had no signal.
