It is amazing how many times per week 'newbies' come on here asking about hometime. Typically, as a new driver you are going to have to take what you can get. Unless you live in one of the companies major shipping lanes you will be lucky to get home every 4-6wks. And don't rely on getting the honest info from a recruiter, they are going to tell you whatever you want to hear.
I'm sure that there are companies that can get you home that often, and perhaps more frequently, but you will have to hope to get an answer from those drivers.
The main problem with frequent hometime is it cuts in to your paycheck. If you aren't out there driving, you aren't making any money. Trucking is not the ideal profession for a married individual unless the spouse is free to travel along, and it definitely isn't the profession for someone with small children.

    Good luck.

Very well put and all in a few small lines!

Home time equates to no pay and no training. You're aready working for less than poverty wages in your training period, why prolong the agony/misery?

You never posted where you live. It would be easier to help if we knew.

If home time is going to be a concern I would look at a different career choice. You will hear of all kinds of different home time packages like 7/7, 14/7 etc... These are just ploys to get you to sign on with a particular company. Fact is if you want to make any money at all you need to put in your time and usually ranges from 6-8 weeks at a time. There are a FEW exceptions to this but are normally for experienced drivers and are more unique.

The companies that offer these ploys realize you won't make any money and that you are new and don't any better. Once you figure it all out they already have you locked in and you can either quit or continue on running the normal 6-8 weeks out to make money. If a driver wants to be home all the time their dispatcher will normally keep them closer to home utilizing you for making all the deliveries and pick ups. Therefore you won't be making any kind of miles or money. The drivers willing to stay out for long periods of time will be given the long runs and good miles.

If staying out for long periods of time isn't what you are looking for or planing on I personally wouldn't waste the $6000 on trucking school to do so.

Yep. And when i started Desiel was .30 a gal, and you got .04 to .05 cash back, when you paid with a fuel card. The only truck school was "here's the keys, go figure it out".
    My how times have changed.
Now desiel is $4.00 a gal and they charge you .05 extra to put it on a charge card. Trucking schools charge $2500 - $3500 just to get the license, then you have to figure out the rest on your own.
    Oh the good ol days.
