Questions about training with Stevens

They have a seperate toilet with a "DOOR", at the end of a hall. The tester will have you put all your valuables, pens, pocket change, keys and anything else in or on your person in a lock box. You keep the key while performing in the closet. They hand you a cup with a line on it. You must provide enough urine to the line. You hand the sample to the tester and they divide it to 2 seperate vials which are sealed in your presence and initialed by you. Then they have you sign the chain of custody form and give you a copy. You have two hours from the time of notification to provide a sample. You may not leave the test area or it is considered a refusal. If you need, they will provide you with some bottled water to help if you are having trouble performing.
You know you have to provide a sample, so the morning of the physical, DON'T PEE BRFORE GOING TO THE YARD.

 

Thanks for the info guys. Just curious, heard a bit of talk during CDL school and read many threads about Stevens being just about the tightest and most rigorous for the pre-emplyment physcial.

 

Stevens has two points that are tougher than the DOT standards. The first is blood pressure. Stevens standard is 1 point lower than the DOT. I don't remember the exact numbers but I think DOT is 140/90 (max) and Stevens is 139/89.
The other is not a DOT issue, but a hot button developing within the industry: Sleep apnea. If your body mass exceeds the maximum for weight (if you fall into the obese catagory) Stevens will often require a sleep apnea test and if needed you must have a Cpap machine. They will finance both of those for you, however you can get the test elsewhere (and the machine) and save considerable money.
Another guage they use in deciding if you fall into the SA risk area is neck size. That will vary with age. A 50 year old can have a bigger neck than a 35 year old and be considered ok. But the body mass is the same for everyone.
