I have had a couple that seemed to be in the shop more than on the road.
Not Swift's fault, for the most part.
Most of the shops I have been in have done an excellent job.
And, be real.
Swift has more trucks on the road than any other company, so more trucks with Swift will experience problems.
But I doubt it is a higher percentage of trucks that are breaking down with Swift.
And of many of those that do break down, it might be the fault of the driver more than Swift.
Those drivers that 'need' to keep running the most hours no matter the cost will tend to put off simple maintenence until it is too late.
Some drivers are simply lazy, so problems that they could have fixed by doing something as easy as adding a gallon of oil turned into a major big deal.

I just signed up for Oct 8... FINALLY!!!
Do I need to study HAZMAT?
Also, how does it work for health benefits: do I get benefits out of AZ or SLC where I live? -
A little small compared to the ProStar and Cascadia, but it is not in the shop every other week - for a week.
My home times are 3-5 weeks apart.
I split them between MN where I live, and Denver to see my girls.
For the first year or more I had to turn down loads going in the opposite direction.
But for the past several months, every load was geared to getting me home on time.
Case in point, today.
I was in TX, then a load to AR. A load into IL gets me closer. Then a very short load of pallets just a bit north (48 mt and 78 loaded).
The next load was back to my last shipper (the Costco in Morris), going to MN for my home time. But I couldn't do it in the time frame, so I refused it.
5 minutes later I get a pplan picking up at the same place, but delivering with a good time frame - and also getting me home.
And I'll be home the evening of the 21st - my requested ht date.
If you are an asset to the company, I believe they will do their best to meet your needs as well.
Although, I've gotten 2 service failures in the past 2 months. The first(s) in nearly 2 years.
I can't recall what caused the first, but the second was because I overslept and was late - this past week.
Can't wait to see if that affects future home time requests. -
Other than that, not much.
But it does make you more valuable.
Health insurance is not dependant on where you are based from. It is company wide. -
When I was with Swift I NEVER got home on time EVAR!
Also they left me sitting 2 hours from Home , over a weekend said it was too far to go Home MT. This was numerous times.
Depends on where you live though. -
Is that unreasonable? They have to place a limit, at some point.
I have run into it more than once, sometimes by only a few miles. -
I got pretty good at the tests online, so... do I just practice the extra HM test here... are they going to to let me take the endorsement?
When you say the insurance is company wide... what company is it... United Health by any chance? is it a PPO? My recruiter is awesome but really busy... -
Insurance company?
I don't know. I have not looked into it.
I'll have to soon though. My BP is up and I'll need it.
Getting old is a pain in the backside. -
getting old is what happens when you refuse to die...
