So I applied at maverick last year back in April of 2011 went to oreintation I got sent home on that Monday because of my back. The doctor said it was no big deal but I should go home and get checked out. I went home got my back looked at everything is fine says the doc. I wanted to reschedule to go back down but a lot of family issues came up so I was forced to sit it out. So since then i have been at another dead end job Now about a month ago I reapplied and got approved. I thought about going to tdc but have decided to go with flatbed. I find out this Monday if I will go down on the 29 of September. I'm really excited about it and I allready have went to the doctor and got my back checked out just in case. So hopefully ill be seeing you guys on the road.

Good luck to you Blazer, glad everything finally worked out for you. With any luck I'll be in the same orientation class as you, heading into the glass division.

Blazer, TCD has a waiting list due to NO trainers available.

I'm hanging on for a TCD opening, at my age I don't want to take a chance with my back. My recruiter told me that if I wanted flatbed I could be down there ASAP.

If your back can handle the physical requirements of the job, you may have made the right decision.

Good luck and hope it works out for you!

Blazer, hope you hear good things from your recruiter. BTW, who is your recruiter?

I'm an old fart and know the joys and pleasures of a back problem. Gotta be honest with myself and the company about the realities of future injuries. I would LOVE to do flat bed, but I know what a back strain feels like. So, I'm willing to wait for an opening.

Hope you get there on the 29th and you are on a truck soon afterwards.

I'm 57 and still do flatbed (have degenerative disc disease,L1,3 and 5 are little black lines on an MRI) . If you can eat it I won't haul it. Most freight they put on flatbeds is way to heavy for me to lift, You will fingerprint a lot more freight pulling a dry van or reefer than you ever will pulling a flat.
