Started the week by heading out at 0400 on Monday to go to Biewer Lumber in Lansing Mi. I spent the night at the truck so that Carolynn did not have to get up that early. I ended up waking up at 0100. So I had plenty of time to have coffee and get ready for the trip.
Got up there around 0745 and got unloaded pretty much on time. Sat for about 2.5 hours and then finally got a load to pick up at Ecorse Mi headed to Portland Tn.
Got to Ecorse and was told to go over to dock E. There were about three Mavs infront of me and about 4 behind me. It seems that when they placed the coils in the coil field, they put them all the way at the end of the building and they could not be reached by the crane that loads at E. After sitting for a couple of hours they told us to go down by D dock and get loaded there.
The whole ordeal took over 5 hours. The only saving grace for me was that I knew I was not going to get out of there and would be spending the night. The other guys were pretty upset as they watched their clocks tick away to nothing.
Tuesday- My appointment was for 1545 and you could get there 30 minutes ahead of time.
On the way down, a Mav passed me and told me that he had his appointment rescheduled for Wednesday because he could not make it on time due to the screw up at Ecorse.
I made it down there no problem and got unloaded right away. I had a preplan on the way (which surprised me). It was to pick up on Wednesday at SDI in Jeffersonville going to Central States in Michigan City. I had just enough time to make it up to the Pilot in Sonora Ky and shut down.
Wednesday-Rolled into Jeffersonville and beat all the other Mavericks that were headed that way.
Got loaded right away and was on my way to Central States in no time.
Made it up there and got unloaded right away.
I sat for maybe 20 minutes and got a load to pick up at US Steel Tin Mill in East Chicago In heading to Elkridge Md.
Got over to the Mill and got to go in and get loaded. After about 30 minutes the two coils were on my deck and I was pulling out to get tarped.
The wind was very strong and before I could get a bungee attached to my canvas tarp, it was off the trailer. So I drug it up and got it secured before I rolled out my steel tarp. To make sure it would not go anywhere, I placed four bungees connected together across the tarp while it was still folded in three locations. That way I could unfold it and pull it down without it going anywhere.
It worked great and I was on my way.
I made it one of the service plaza's on the toll way before I had to shut down.
Thursday. This load could deliver today if I could make it, but there was no way. So I got a full day of driving and tried to stop at the pilot just before I 81 On I 70. I pulled in there at 1500 and it was super crowded. It was listed as a large, but that was wishful thinking. I went through it a couple of times, but decided that it was not worth the hassle or the risk to try to park so I headed on down and stopped at the Welcome center in Maryland going E on 70. It was wide open, so I was very glad I made the choice.
Friday. The receiver, Precoat, starts unloading at 0700. I was not sure how soon to leave to avoid all of the traffic heading towards Baltimore and Washington DC. I decided to leave at 0500 and sit if I had to, but at least get there. Traffic was heavy but I did not have any issues. I got there around 0615 and had a 45 minute wait. They got me unloaded around 0730. I had a preplan going to the Packer Ave Marine Terminal in Philadelphia. I had no issues getting there....traffic was a breeze and as soon as I found where they were loading the slinkies, I was getting coils put on the truck.
Was in and out of there in record speed. This load is going to Grand Blanc Processing in Holly Michigan.
I made it all the way into ohio on I76 and stopped just short of Akron with 3 minutes on my electronic logs.
Made it home by 0930 this morning.
I will be heading out at 0400 on Monday so that I can get my 34 in.
Hope you all have a wonder weekend!

Jim, you were in East Chicago Wednesday afternoon/evening? I was there too loading at Door 61 around same time. Got a large shotgun coil to nextech as usual when I load there. We were likely there at same time approximately. Too bad we missed each other.

I was at the Kroger DC on Nelson Miller Pkwy Friday morning. But so were a bunch of others. Another former Sand Driver showed up in a KLLM, pulling a Tyson trailer.

But, I'm home finally. I had to go to Indy and pick up a load of fruit pies for Americold / ConAgra in Russellville. The sucky part is that there were two of us there and because of a less than stellar performance of another Maverick employee, we were both there 14 hours or longer. We both delivered today then I bob tailed to NLR. After 18 straight days in the truck, I wasn't going to let anything keep me from getting home today. Put the driver's side window down a bit and I couldn't even hear the little wench complaining about my after hours activity. It was only 31 minutes and well within my 14 and 70.

I have doctor's appointments all day Monday. Three at Heart Clinic Arkansas in LR and the other at my kidney doctor's in Conway. I have to mow tomorrow so I may stay home until Wednesday.

Have you ever thought of Jill as a bit of a lot lizard? Maverick sends the message telling you how much money you made and Jill starts hollering for SEX SEX SEX SEX SEX SEX.
