06 was the first year the MX was sold and mine is an 06 so i would say that makes it one off the early ones.
You read that statement again and you will see it confirms what i said in post #10 off this thread.
IF you read the original statement, you will also see that the engine didn't breakdown.
The repair was done when i wanted it to happen.
Meaning i had no loss off working days as i was on holiday anyway when they did the partial inframe.
I thank Scaniaman for finding that old (very)post,i saved me the trouble off finding it.
In that case there will be not a single manufacturer left to do bussiness with as all have done recalls or fixed problems after a certain model was launched and sold.
Had Paccar not solved this , then and only then could there be a case made against the MX for this issue.Last edited: Sep 17, 2012

No I'm saying that my old 2003 models had the same problems, the mx has even worse problems and no they haven't been sorted to this day, McAuliffs near my house have a 2010 and it's belching out smoke, not sure what the mileage is but it has to be around 300,000kms, Mahers 2009 DAF the same, Nolans have changed the engines in plenty of 2010's, McGranes despite having a nearly all DAF fleet at one stage will never allow another into the yard, Tom Duffy has a 2011 xf and is trying to get DAF to take it back, I could go on but I'm done with this

The new Paccar MX is a great engine. No it's no a 15 liter CAT of Cummins, but there is a reason CAT is out of the business. If you look at the engineering in the engine you would see why it is the only engine with a B10 rating (1,000,000 mile rating). CGI block and head, mid engine cam, built in engine retarder (it's adjusted when valves are). Only 10% of engines built will experience major break down (rebuild) were as all other are B50 ratings. The T-680 comes with a Cummins if you so desire. The MX is built for fuel efficiency, I have a friend who runs cincinnati to dallas every week dedicated and averages 6.8 MPG to 7.1 MPG. Not bad for 13 liter. The Cummins ISX 15 gets better fuel economy than it's little brother ISX 12. Paccar owns DAT, Pete, Kenworth, they have for a long time.

Okay Scania man. You won. Do not take away their hope at least.
Scania man Thanks this. -
Has he?
All good things come to those that wait.
To be continued.................. -
Jaysus don't get upset whatever ya do! It's not like you own shares in paccar.... Or do you?
Wait??? How long more cos they have yet to produce a reliable engine, it's irresponsible to claim these are a good engine, many of the guys here are owner operators and a bad engine choice could bankrupt them especially given the legendary paccar warranty that I experienced first hand.
BTW I'm not looking to win any argument but I'll make it known how I was treated by paccar and the experience I had with those pos engines and the experience my friends and fellow countrymen continue to have with them....not that they (with the exception of Nolans) are selling any here now! -
Let's be optimistic. Paccar took over DAF and they are committed to make a good engine. Several big fleet accepted their offer whatever is that. They are testing, Paccar tries to improve, and let's hope, one day we will have a viable option. Until I think for an O/O is not a wise choice, but if somebody take a chance, I wish good luck for him, and if they have luck, I am happy for them. That is it.
