I had (and still have) AT&T while I was a driver and had good enough coverage to talk everywhere. I used Verizon for an internet account, theirs is MUCH better than AT&T...

When I was at W/S you needed a cell, to call brokers mostly. I would normaly be dispatched out of Conover(home terminal) on LTL to New England. get a broker load back toward NC. Most brokers want you to call them a minimum of 3 times. 1. When you are MT and ready to pick up their freight, 2 When you are loaded with their freight, 3 When you are MT and their freight is where it needs to be.

I'll keep that in mind. The prepaid will be adequate for now.... if I find that I need a better phone/provider, I can look into it once I have a steady income again.

Thank you, everyone, for your recommendations. You've been a great help :)

Run through WY, SD, MT and UT with AT&T...then come back and say how well you like them! lol Verizon is the only way to go.

an advantage to having Verizon is that they are showing up in more truck stops, mostly TA/Petro.
hands down, verizon is the better way to go, weather on contract or prepaid, its the same coverage.

Straight Talk can be great, it just depends on the phone you get and what towers it pulls off of. Google the phone model and you can get the information easy.

Earbuds with a mic can be bought at Radio Shack for $7. Not noise cancelling, but they work very well.

Add KS to the list, drove accross there a while back and service was TERRABLE, I actually haven't had any problems in SD and MT has not been too bad. Didn't say I liked them, just that's who I have.
