I think I might try a setup like autocar has. I was doing some measuring today and I think I can get the front axle on my step up 4"

4" would be a good bit, on a step. Worth a try. Remember, you want the brakes on that axle released, when moving, so when the tires do strike, they roll, not slide.

    they still flat spot.

btw its not that hard to build an auto lift if you have a welder. build a pivot arm with an air bag on the end. an electric air switch to switch air from the suspension air bags to the lift bag. thrn you can.lift from the cab at toll plazas and then drop it again

Cab controlled lift axles are illegal. Cab controlled dump valves are not.

For the guys with limited clearance, you could fit a short airpiston on the height adjust valve.
That way you raise the trailer a little when empty.

The small airpiston extends about an inch.

Is done here on 3 axles trailers that raise 2 axles.

They won't in Canada. That is the 1st thing they asked me when I was running end-dumps. Our MAC had lift axles and they had to check and make sure it was controlled from outside the cab. One of them was not, and he was denied entry!!! The 3 tri-axle's were allowed in tho, since it is not a combination vehicle, and lift axle with controls in the cab are allowed I guess???

Ontario still has lots of lift axles controlled from the cab, but the self steering ones are not allowed cab controls.

What part of canada are you talking about, each province has different rules on axles and lifts axles.
