Just saw an ad for these the perused their website and videos. I was wondering if anybody has one and what their experience has been with it. It looks to be about $140 for a ready to go setup.

I didn't see a link to what your talking about. I have a dash cam I use, I got it from Dieselboss.com

Works great & with a 16 gig card it runs all day. I even captured an accident at a truck stop..

For 80 bucks it's not bad, there are cheaper & more expensive ones out there.

The market is flooded with various cam configurations now. For the consumer and for the researcher (ie, me) it is very difficult to sort the forest through the trees. For instance, the camera referenced in the first post of this thread is one that I tested. It is made my dozens of overseas manufacturers and variations of it are on Amazon for as low as $20 (http://www.amazon.com/2-5-inch-Vehi...qid=1348848153&sr=8-5&keywords=windshield+cam)

The key to the whole thing is that the "devil is in the details." With the small windshield or dash cams, look for what video chipset it uses as this GREATLY affects the video quality and the night ability, look for whether it comes with any SD card already, look for whether there is a human on the other end of a phone in America for service or warranty help, and look for whether it comes with a warranty.

I also use the one posted in DB's link. I have 2 SD cards, 1-16 gig and 1-32 gig. I've found there is one downfall with this model. The resolution (640 x 480) is not quite enough for being able to read some signs and license plates. They use a fish-eye lens, which causes the image to be warped at the edges. It also makes things appear farther away then what they really are. They're not what I'd use if I'm looking to produce a HD or very high quality video, but is good enough to save your bacon in accidents.

    For me personally...
Memory is too cheap to worry if it's going to come with a Dashcam or not.

Just did a quick check at Newegg, found a bunch of 32gig Class 6 Cards for around $30.
I wouldn't even waste my time with anything less than 16gigs either.

Would love to get a Dashcam also.

Yes, memory card prices are at an all-time low. Just make sure that you get class 6 or higher as you mentioned.

I bought one from this website, he is/was a trucker and was very helpful.

I run a 32gb card captures about 12 hrs of hd video.
Class 10 cards are preferred for HD recording, although I think my current card is a class 4. I have several others.

Recently at an intersection a 4wheeler ran their red light and almost tboned my truck. They braked and swerved at the last moment and was able to avert catastrophe. Later when I reviewed the dashcam it clearly showed I had the green light. I certainly wouldn't drive without it.
