When youre assigned a truck and the previous driver was a smoker are you allowed to refuse the truck? Im not a smoker and I dont want to be forced to live in a truck that smells like crap.
Anyone know or have a guess what % of truckers actually smoke?

You could try and request another truck, but they are under no obligation to provide one. They may tell you to clean it and live with it. If you can claim an allergy to cig. smoke you might make a medical claim that it would adversly effect you.

Only the ones that ride the brakes down fancy gap or flat top......

I think the percentage of smokers in our business is slightly higher than the national average. In Quebec Canada its probably in the 75% range.

I've made some smokers trucks smell like new. Takes a little elbow grease but you'll b good.
They will probably tell you "that's all we have right now" -
Prolly depends on your company too.
Some might be a bit more 'accommodating'.
While Others will simply tell you (nicely) to go ### yourself.
In some cases they might not have many trucks sitting around.
But if they give you one like that, just ask for a different one. LOLcuzzin it Thanks this. -
I will not take a truck from a smoker. Its a health issue, I have not had a problem with a employer yet. Most seem to appreciate you not smoking in there truck.

Depends on the company as to how clean the trucks are... the company I work for has a detail shop on the yard that cleans them inside and out, new matresses etc... no smoke smell at all whem they are through with it.
You are free to refuse the trucl they assign you, nit if there is nothing wrong mwchanically that they can't repair, you will sit until they feel like assigning anpther to you... but thats just how they do it here. -

That is the point they are trying to make... you don't want to drive their truck, they will find another driver...
But again the trucks are spotless when they give them to you, the shop onspects it and fixes any defects they find or you find...
Usually those not wanting the trucks are complaining becuase they got assigned a Kenworth and not a Peterbilt, or they wanted a T660 amd got a T2000... that kind of nonsense.
