Do you even have a job yet? have you fiished school? Personaly I would be more concerned with the overall condition of the tractor than wether someone smoked in it. You can always clean it.
Does it leak any fluids? good tires? hows the suspension? There are 100's 1000's of things about that tractor that are way more important than if it's been smoked in. I'm not trying to give you crap, it just seems that you may need to reprioritize your concerns a little.

My first truck was not clean but was not a smoker. I was dang glad for that... I cleaned it. It did have several mechanical issues like a broken engine mount. No big deal there, right? Heheheheee
Well they called that one back in for the lease program and I got my second. It was previously used by a heavy smoker! The whole truck was orange with tar and nicotine. But luckily it was not the worst I had seen... I had clorox wipes. It took two or three just to clean the steering wheel! And that was easy to clean rubber/vinyl.

(my photos are not embedding the last few days... not sure why.)
I wiped down the entire front half of the cabin the first day. It took about two hours. Then I worked on the sleeper section. Another two hours. Febreezed all the fabric areas and got a deodorizer pellet type concoction.
After a few days I did it all over again. It is bearable now. But not brand clean....

No I do not drive yet, no I do not have my CDL yet. Kind of the reason Im here. I dont NEED to be a truck driver I WANT to be one. I have the option of telling the company to piss off if I dont like something. Im not forced to bend over and say please may I get it deeper.
Im not going to school until January because my current contract does not end until the end of December. If trucking does not work out I have plenty of other options for work. I work in an industry that very few people do and would be considered an "Expert" in the field. )
I smoked for 10 years and then quit about 6 years ago. Im not going to live in a vehicle that smells like smoke and yellowed from the nicotine.
Thanks for your concern though. -
suk it up nancy jst clean it n put ur favorite deororant
Killer60148, OldDude50, vinsanity and 2 others Thank this. -
Thats crazy that you would be the one forced to clean it. Sounds like the company was doing you a favor by letting you drive one of their trucks and in return you detailed it for them.
As long as youre cool with it Im cool with it. -
lol not even driving yet n he wants wants lol stay where u are this job aint for u.

We have threads about how to clean a truck. Use the search feature.
I run across a similar article a couple weeks back. Here's another with the same natural remedies to get rid of the smell that makes sense.

When I changed companies if I couldn't get a nice truck I would pick the oldest, ugliest truck on the lot. It won't be long and you will be driving a new one.
Most trucks have cabin filters. Change them. There is usually one under the hood near or behind the engine air filter and another under the bunk bed. You can ask the shop to change them if needed. I usually stocked up changed them myself.Last edited: Sep 28, 2012

Go crawl back in to the hole you came from. If you have nothing constructive to say then dont say anything.Freddie Thanks this. -
Thanks for the link, I used coffee in my truck before I sold it. I didnt realize it smelled until I stopped smoking. Cloth seats and cigarettes dont mix.
The thread was for refusing the truck not cleaning it.
