the guy who never scaled his loads isn't driving a lease truck anymore
the guy taking 5 days off second week isnt driving a lease truck anymore
2-3 guys did what you are suppose to do with a starter company and moved on
a better place will wait to be seen
to me trip planning is always the key to always be available to drive and not sitting at a TS waiting for hours to recapFatDaddy Thanks this. -

Really the guys I ever really see making it are guys like yourself, and live out on the road, or trainers, or sometimes I see guys pick up a second seat. These companies love teams.
But like I said earlier I really needed to get back to work and they were only hiring lease opp. And most other places wanted me to go through refresher courses I'm sure you know what that's about.
I myself can not stay out that long cause I have a family to tend to.
besides it was only local port work. not to much planning to it, was home every day any ways, showed up every day. Besides the faulty operations conducted. they closed operations there pretty much leaving every one out to hang. most who lived in the area and being lease opps.
The way they planed and operated was delusional and they way they closed the doors on the drivers like that is just a testament of what was going on.
I agree with what you said about what it takes to be able to drive, I probably learned all that in the first three months of driving. That's me though, I cant speak out for others.Last edited: Sep 30, 2012

well that there lies the problem guys dont learn in first three months are probably not going to get it later either
isn't most of it common sense
you know like if you have 5 extra hours on a run use it at the end of the run in case something happens
instead of being late because you screwed off at the start
when your on a 10 minute break walk up one side of the truck on way to the bathroom
walk back the otherside before you get into your truck
i had 2 fuel filters in my hand said to the trainer" i will change your fuel filters for you if you want'
He says" they will be fine the truck is just sluggish"
5 hours later road assist came and changed them for $568aiwiron Thanks this. -

I don't get how it's possible in today's society of instant information available about any subject that people still think they are gonna be the exception and succeed with a lease purchase for a large company.
All of these companies have teams of bean counters who sit there all day hammering away at the keys on their calculators fine tuning ways for the company to allow you to make $5 a week more as a lease operator than a company driver if you do everything right. Then, toward the end of the contract 99% of them cut your freight or rates and put you out of business, get the truck back and get a judgement against you for the balance due on the truck that they just sold to some other poor shmuck who had a dream to own a truck but no idea how to operate a business.
