Thank you Emulsified. You have been very helpful with all the answered questions that we all had. I have learned alot just by reading all the answers you have given by other questions that were asked by other people. I will be starting with Stevens in Dec. if all goes well. Will be going to the Dallas, TX classes. See you around....maybe.

well im back but will not post a lot because im on a phone and it would be to much for me to write everything out but it was really a busy week. Got to meet Ramon but he is having a little hard time right now. First we was sent to a doctor to get our physical done and it cost $100. Overall the week was good, we got to learn on PTI on our second day and after was coupling, then we went over to get our permits. Then we started learning on shifting and backing more PTI. Ramon is having a hard time on pre trips and shifting and backing. We were told to shift at about 1200rpm because by the time we would try to change it would already hit 1500rpm. Ramon I guess by accidently went over 2000rpm and got yelled to brake and the truck stalled after stopping. But now he is getting it better at shifting. He just need someone to take his time on PTI with him to help memorize. I need help on that to but Im getting a better understanding at it. We both having a hard time on PTI but we have no internet or other way to access for more help and to look at videos. What I can say is currently this week we will get to do more and drive out on the streets. Hope we learn everything by the end of the 3 weeks. Oh and one more thing you have to find a way to get to the school no transportation, im paying $20 for gas every week to get to the school. And for lodging its $150 for 3 weeks. I will post more when I get a chance to get on a computer and will explain all details and information. So far school is great at teaching, I dont know when I will be able to get a chance to be back to post again.

So i went through and added up each month, and averaged it out a week:
06/2011 - total pay was 1,037.00 = 259.00 a week which is about 997 miles per week
07/2011 - total was 862.00 = 215.00 a week which is about 862 miles per week
08/2011 - total was 1206.00 = 301.00 a week which is about 1157 miles per week
09/2011 - total was 1448.00 = 362.00 a week which is about 1392 miles per week
10/2011 - total was 965.00 = 241.00 a week which is about 926 miles per week
11/2011 - total was 1230.00 = 307.00 a week which is about 1180 miles per week
12/2011 - total was 1645.00 = 411.00 a week which is about 1580 miles per week
01/2011 - total was 1207.00 = 301.00 a week which is 1157 miles per week
now i just added the monthly totals (rounded up cents) and divided it by 4 weeks then took the per week in pay and divided it by .26 cpm (which i am assuming is the pay you were getting paid Nascar)....im sure this pay varies from person to person, and i am just going by what nascarchuck put up, but my opinion, thats barely enough to live on, let alone pay any bills you may have at home. though those are pretty low miles, even by any info i have said, not even in the ball park for an average run by most OTR drivers, but just going by what was posted. That being said, i have been on this forum for close to a year, and last year i was looking at getting behind the wheel again, but i finished out my last job to finally see them go out of business, so alas been re-evaluating my choice to get behind the wheel, i do have my Class A CDL, enhanced even, and working on my endorsements (doubles, tanker, hazmat and my TWIC) but i only had 5 months of OTR with Swift back in 2007, and did yard holster for 3 years with last job, so i have done a lot of research on most of the big training companies, and even though Stevens is one of the lowered paid, i personally think they have the best training, and to be honest, some companies do push you through training very quickly, even when i went through "swift academy" i couldn't believe who they were letting pass the class, not to mention, when i was a warehouse supervisor at this last job, i dealt with a lot of OTR guys who picked up our freight every day, and was scary seeing how many people drive these massive machines. I am still trying to figure out if i can afford to drive for stevens, cause i am a single guy, so my income is the only thing that pays my bills, so no girlfriend or wife to help out, that is the only thing that has kept me working a local hourly job right now. So we'll see int he coming weeks.Last edited: Oct 3, 2012

Also includes:
meat lock $10.00
motel (school) $11.25
driver assistance fund $1.00
loan repayment (school loan) $26.84
trip delivery (?) $2.00
load locks $10.00
food repayment $11.50
physical $2.25
I already had my CDL so I am not sure what the deductions are for this.
The bring home is the dollar amount that I am concerned about. This is what I have to pay bills with, not my net pay. -
Trip.delivery I believe is the transflo charge.
