I got a ticket for failure to yield.

You can get a ticket for not yielding without an accident being involved. Prime example: Exiting the highway ramp, and you come to a yield sign..so you don't stop and go ahead and merge with a cop sitting in the median of the off ramp. Batta bing batta bang....busted. I would pull your MVR if you haven't already, and see what exactly is on your driving record. Call companies that you are interested in and talk to the recruiter, and explain the situation. They are the ones that can say yes or no. We can only give you hypothetical answers of your situation.

I will tell you that I hate those yield signs and turn about lanes....I really would like to meet the person who thunk that idea up...that is just an accident waiting to happen everyday.

 

There are several factors that could make the difference in how a company looks at this. Your length of time driving, your driving record are a couple of them.

As was posted, contact a few companies that you might be interested in. I am sure that the SCHOOL will tell you, "it is not a problem." And for the school, it isn't. But it isn't the school that you will be going to work for. They want you in their school, so they can get paid. They don't really care whether or not you get a job, once you have completed their school.

 

You may be able to get this off of your record. You will have to call the court since you already paid your fine.

In Chicago of all places, making a left turn from the outside lane like I'm suppose to, and sum jacko with an empty trailer turns behind me switches lanes and makes me slam on my brakes to get behind him to get on the interstate... People driving like they're in a 4-wheeler need to be beaten with a water hose! Just thought it happened the day after I saw this post.

I was cited for failure to yield in MI last year and it had me worried. Then yesterday I got my 5 year safety award in the mail. As strict as this company is, they apparently took the factors into consideration you mentioned.

 

It's yield, not a stop. There's no reason that you need to stop when taking an on ramp. Only reason you would need to stop is if there's a reason to. But under normal circumstances, you should never have to stop. Just yield...slow down to safe speed and merge with traffic. It's really a simple concept and act but so many have no idea how to merge.

My bad...you say exiting highway....but still same principle...a yield is a yield...not a stop sign.
