    Some one having a hissy fit because i explained that this video was an actuall work situation??? Did I say anything derogatory about the other vid? nope! did I say that the other video was dumb or anything?? nope all I stated was that this video was shot on a bush road and the reason i did it.. the lease access was so bad that only 1 truck could go in so i filmed the chain installation while waiting my turn. so ?? so why on the defensive???.. here in our oil patch depending on situations a fellow can burn out 2 or more sets of trips in a season.. I been in situations that because of a certain move we had to chain up 8 times in a day .. no big deal part of the job description.. depending on what the consultant wants, on our paper work it will state "driver to chain up at km (such and such) and chain both drive axles and install steer chain..etc. I have helped train a lot of drivers in the special extras of off road driving and have been a mentor to many.. I will never ever put down another driver for trying to make our work safer or teach a new fellow a better safer way to work..read what i posted again.. just said this was a real world vid

    Thank you for posting this great demonstration. There is nothing scarry about using chains. I've heard drivers say " if it's bad enough for chains, I don't need to be out here." That's a cop out. It's not like your going to be driving on an ice scating rink. If the pass was that slick, it would be closed until it was safe. With chains, you're not going to be driving fast anyway. You're just doing what you need to do in order to get across the pass. The other option is to burn fuel in a truck stop and the money in your pocket hearing the same old stories that I've been hearing for 30yrs. LOL
    Not to mention that you could be sitting there for a couple days until the storm passes.

    The time is at hand. wont put up the pics but the Coquihalla claimed its first driver of the season a week ago. What a mess.

    I've run chains lots on ice and have yet to chew up a set of chains or tires but we run actual CHAINS (triples). If you are running a set of singles then, yes, they don't work well on ice....or snow, or mud or anything else. They are a steering chain not a drive chain.
