Reefer versus dry. Are there vast differences between the two divisions? Which one will get you more loads? Is Columbus Oh in a good freight lane? Just looking for some helpful information.
THANKS!!!
Keep getting emails/post cards to drive for Knight. Have some questions.

Worked for a company similar to Knight and loaded & unloaded side by side with them & talked to many of their drivers. They all liked the company. Dry van vs. reefer : easier to get loads with reefer trailer because you can haul reefer or dry loads. With dry van you are limited to only dry loads. When my dispatcher told me to go find an empty trailer on the yard and hook up to it, I would always look for a reefer trailer; this made my chances much better for not sitting in a truckstop waiting for a dry load.

Nothing that had anything to do with Millis. I got promoted to a supervisor position at work. I am not sure how long will last. I had to tell Millis I would not be joining them. I really don't think they would really be eager to let me sign up for their training again lol.

im going to be heading to trucking school next month and was wondering if knight hires people fresh out of trucking school? and does knight have hometime fleets? 21/7 14/7 7/7 etc? thanks

Yes Knight hires students but it's their (Squire) division you will go out with trainer 3-4 weeks then take a road test if you pass you're hired onto Squire a assigned your own truck for 90 days if all goes well with no incidences thn you will be hired to drive for Knight.
I am currently on my 2nd week out withmy trainer so far so good. But can't wait to get in my own truck. -
im out of the indy yard but i have a buddy i have know for awhile and worked with him at another truckin company he is out of the columbus oh yard he is home every week ad is very happy with the pay his dm is a laid back guy and they both work together to find things that work

I wish Knight were pursuing me!
I thought they wanted to hire more females?? Truck drivers who know me tell me I am an ideal candidate..
Does anyone know anything about Squire's training program? ? ?
Long story short --- I Got my Physical Exam and CDL Class A permit last week and called the recruiter at Squire .. (Because he told me to call back after I got my permit.) I have talked to him a few times before.
Literally minutes after I got my permit last Friday I called thinking, "I'm ready to sign up now". And figured since I was only 9 miles from Knight (instead of 90) ,hopefully I could go in and get a face to face meeting at least..
The recruiter called me back that afternoon. I told him I have the permit now and how do I sign up? I even have already put in notice with my present employer! He said they have no available female trainers- well I had told him before that someone I know- who drives for Knight- said I could request her. He himself once said I could request a trainer. so I reminded him of her... Than he said "she hasn't been approved yet" and "she hasn't returned his calls" ... So that night I told "my pending trainer" what he said and she told me she HAS been informed from her DM that he would contact her- she gave her # AND e-address but has not heard from him!
And besides- I don't know why they can't at least get me signed up- get all the paperwork out of the way and than wait for a female trainer...
I am beginning to feel like I am being brushed off and I can't understand why!
I have a perfect driving record , they could go back 30 years and find nothing! I have been driving since I was 16 and the only accident I have ever been in was when I was 18. I was rear ended when I was waiting to make a left turn right in front of my own house returning home from work! Have no gaps in my employment since I was 18 except when I took 1 to 2 years off when my kids were babies (they are in their 20's now).. No involvement with drugs No DWI's no arrests, No tickets what-so-ever. All my past employers would give me an excellent reference, on good terms with all of them.
So I can't understand why he would say "my trainer" is "not returning his messages" about getting approved when he hasn't even contacted her. When I call or e-mail her she gets back with me inside of 12 to 24 hours- when she is taking her "10".
Is this the norm for them? Does anyone here have answers or suggestions? Are there other Knight recruiters I could contact?? I don't know why they can't at least get me signed up and keep the start date blank till the trainer gets approved.
Is Knight not needing new students anymore?
I really feel like I am being brushed off and might just look elsewhere for training.

You've mentioned your husband in previous posts...starting out, all drivers must 'pay their dues' and spend a lot of time on the road B4 finding something (usually after 1 yr min exp.) that might be more 'spouse friendly!' OTR is hard on a couple when separated!!
BTW, the figure is that 60% of new CDL's drop out of trucking within their 1st 9 mos..(hardships, incidents/accidents, family, etc.)
